My car is getting ever closer to having its first service now, do i have to go to my seat dealer to keep it under warranty?

Also looking into a remap from ultra map but worried as you loose the warranty when you have a remap and i sooooo dnt know what to do! I want to but worried if i get any probs! what do you guys think? 140-185 for 250 quid! Anyone ever used ultra map? and anyones hap problems after a remap?

Also i am getting 52mpg now @ 80 and starting to see a increase now as the miles get on the clock, what do you guys normally get?

Also what is the best oil to use?

Anyways a lot of questions will look forward to the response

Nope - as long as the company use genuine VAG parts & keep to the schedule correctly. I get mine done at Skoda, but you can get it done at any garage (if you go down this route, I'd suggest a VAG specialist)

You dont lose the warranty. They would have to prove that the map was directly responsible for any problems. So if your lights fail, then warranty job, if your turbo blows up, then it could be the map...........

Problems vary. Most people have none. On mine, I needed a new clutch (£700)

about mid 40's now........

Ensure you use VW505.01 specification oil. Millers do an oil to this specification if you can find a supplier near you otherwise go to a VW dealer and buy some their.

How many miles had you done?

Had the remap at around 18k miles, slipped pretty much from the start, but got progressively worse. Changed clutch at 25k.

Oil is deffo 505.01 - the Skoda dealer who services my car normally does this cheap for me :) - but if you find a Millers stockist (see website), you can get that much cheaper then Seat prices !!

Insurance companies vary - some will not insure you, some whack up your premium, others give it to you for free (greenlight).

Not heard any feedback on here about Ultramap.

Personally I'd rather go with a company I'd heard good feedback from - but maybe you've had that from Ultramap.

Ian (aceman, above) has the same engine as you and has had it remapped, can't remember who by though. I have a feeling it was Richard at Forge...someone who knows his stuff anyway :)

Not the best (there all pretty much the same) - but a lot of support from the guys on the forums in regards to answering issues/queries/problems etc.

Plus, a load of places "fit" Revo, so it is widely distributed.

I went for a custom map myself (Bell Auto's) - got to pick the power delivery (not generic map like Revo Stage 1), and I think it's about £200 cheaper than Revo. I'm well happy with it, getting the map re-tuned (hopefully at the weekend) as I have a new clutch, I can now get it tuned for more power !!

Have a look in the tuning section, all the forum sponsors are in there :)

Revo, Custom Code, Forge, Upsolute, Jabba, Bell, P-Torque....all have been used by people on here.

Flavour of the month seems to be Custom Code, not heard a bad word said against it but like Revo it's pretty pricey.
Personally I've used Upsolute, in future I'd either go with them again or try Bell or P-Torque, to me they offer far better value for money. Just my opinion though :)

Just a shame no one has used ultra map on here so far, they are doing a group buy and a discount for it hence the questions.

Poll results are 15 to 1 so far so looks like most people have had good results with a remap?

Any one know how much diff it make in the insureance?

i am having a revo remap and the guy just said to me

"well we can do your car but not via obd serial map. However I have been promised some state of the art equipment for the day to remap your car via BDM which means we remove your ecu and open the box up BUT we dont touch or remove the chips"

what does this mean? getting it done by ultra map and costing 250 quid as a group buy
