Hello,

I just managed to lose my master key  to my Ibiza 1.4 (2007 make), I have gone through the post on the forum and parts of my manual

as per the manual I should have had
key with remote control
one key without remote control
key tab with the key number

I never got the key tab with the key number, should I have received it, can this number be obtained from the chassis number?

Do I just order an electronic key, get it cut from timpsons(why would they cut the key free, do they sell the keys too ?)

I am afraid that whoever has got my key can actually drive away in my car. do i need to change the lock barrel (i guess this is the part into which the key goes)

If i get the key coded to my car, i guess this is coding the key to the immobilizer (my understanding this is some setting in the ECU), would this mean that there are 3 keys coded to my immobiliser, my two keys and the third lost key. And whoever has my key can use his key to drive away with my car.

or can i get the code of the car changed with the two keys (old and new) recoded to the new code of the car.

I guess programming the remote control into the key is not a problem, would reprogramming the key using the instructions on the site render the third key unprogrammed?

How much would the Seat Dealer charge me to get a programmed remote control key? I remember the dealer saying that the key was worth 90 pounds, but I have seen other people mention higher prices and besides reprogramming of something (ECU) might be required to achieve a decent level of pre-loss security.

The non-remote control key when used to open a car would create a siren sound when used to open a door and not plugged in the ignition. Would the same apply to the main key(key with remote control). I was wondering if the codes in the ECU(?) can be changed, this would render the remote control key useless and if some one did manage to get into my car then he would need to plug in the correct key(which he would not have) within 15 seconds or so.

Timpsons has a 24/7 service and they seem to have the tools to get into the ECU, do you guys recommend going to Timpsons and getting them to do it? or should i go to the stealers?

does one need to tell the insurance company and the police about the loss of one's key?
does the seat ibiza have a tracking system?

good to know that you not been charged a ransom. i heard they charge 350 for ford replacement keys.:censored:

the key change needs to be done in the garage, they plug their gadgets into the ecl of the car and it takes about 10-20 minutes for the process.

Should have taken this as an oppotunity to get flip keys! £30 for a key with new blade and immob transponder - just need to get it cut (£4 ish), programme central locking (DIY) and programme immob transponder (not sure how much this is - i swapped it out of spare w/out remote)!

i think you need to get into the ecl to get the imeb transponder all programmed up with the new batch of keys.
central locking programming can be done DIY

I also lost my keys - was either on the Nemesis Revenge or the Colosus at Thorpe Park. Off to Seat tomorrow - at least now with a heads up on the cost. I'll be going to camberley so I'll let you know about prices there

i just enquired about a spare key for my 56 plate ibiza from barlows in wolverhampton, and they quoted a rediculous £54.16+vat for the remote key, and £96.35+vat for programing!!! thats £150.51+vat total.
ive seen some key blanks on ebay alot cheaper (£37.00ish with postage) if i buy one of them, would the dealers still program it if they didnt supply it? and if so, does anyone know of a dealer in the midlands that dont charge such a silly price as barlows?
