Is this possible? Looking at upgrading to the larger MFD but not sure if it would be compatible. I know you can get the dials coded to match your car but not sure if this would work due to the year difference.

Any advice or places in the midlands which do the programming of the dial pod.

Cheers

Why would you want to? The dials in the Pre Facelift are better than the dials in the Facelift.

Have you been in and lived with both?

The colour, font and look on the pre facelift are better to me.

The MFD is a tad better on the facelift admittedly.

Well I've managed to get myself a set of cupra dials with large display for a good price. I've checked the back and the sticker states 29.6.2008 so I presume they would be for the 2009 model Leon as it would take them a few months to get the dial to the car....I presume if I plug it in then if the display is white then I know it's a facelift version?

Just need to look at getting it coded up to my car...any idea of cost and any suggested specialists in the midlands area? I know the VAG guys in Cannock do it but no response from them yet.

Have you checked the block connector at the back of your current dials to see if they resemble the new one? Otherwise you may need to re-wire it also.

Anyone with VCDS can do the coding for you..
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_III_Immobilizer_Swapping_(Instrument_Cluster)

To do this however, you need someone to get you the SKC of both dials (this is meant to be the tricky part).

I am interested to see if you get this done as I also want the large MFD.

Need to have a look at the back of the current ones to see what the connector is like. I've got VCDS so that side of things should be ok but I need to look at getting Vag- Tacho or Vag-Commander with the 'K' cable fitting in order to get the SKC.

Will let you know ow I get on and if it all works I'll do a guide.

Just spotted an old cluster swap guide here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3604801-DIY-hi-line-cluster

It mentions swapping both the Central Convenience/Comfort Control Module (CCCM) and the Central Electronics Control Module (CECM). It states the only reason to swap these two modules is to have access to options coded in these two modules from MFA+ menus.

If you have high line CCCM you will find the CONVENIENCE menu in SETTINGS.
If you have high line CECM you will find the LIGHTS & VISION menu in SETTINGS.

Maybe worth a look

Connectors are different.. major modifications. Plus the fl cluster takes the signal from elsewhere in ecu, at least thats what i know from a stealer

I've seen that write up before...very indepth!, but it does say that there is no need to install the CCCM or CECM. I think I'll try and see if the cluster swap works first before I go down any other route!

As I don't have an FL then this shouldn't be a problem...both my car and the replacement cluster are both from a Cupra. ;)

FL meaning FaceLift not FR.

I want to stick a facelift FR cluster in my pre-facelift FR if posible.

I was talking about fl to nonfl :).. If you have bc, cruise control, rain sensor and steeering wheel controls it is just plug and play. If you don't have then i don't know if it will be easy. Its all about the steering column electronics :)
