Stock or Aftermarket DV ?

Hey Guys,

Just had the car under diagnostic at the garage and two fault codes are pointing towards the DV (I took it in as the engine management light came on)

Cant remember off the top of my head what the codes were - Will update later.

However, the garage recommended I change the DV, even though it drives fine, albeit with a few hiccups (which he thinks the DV is causing), the bloke said it's definitely worth changing.

With that in mind, and regardless or whether or not his recommendation is sound, I currently have a forge splitter valve on there, will I really notice the difference putting a stock one on instead of that?

The one i have is going for about £175 on Dtweeks - Not too sure how much a stock one is, however i presume much cheaper.

Any recommendations?

Forge 007 everytime, first thing a lot of people do to the car, removes many issues as the stock just isnt up to it

Thanks, Are they discontinued? OR named something else? Just had a quick mooch and cant find anything,

008 see, easier to find, Much difference? I presume it's a newer version?

EDITED *** Looking at the pics on the 007 - It seems that's that one I already have on the car lol, looks identical, 007/Spltter - So looks like I already have that... AS they seem hard to get hold of, worth going with the 008 ***

The 008 is an updated version of the 007 but I'm unsure of what the changes are. I have the splitter and the 008 and would highly recommend the 008 over the splitter.

If I'm correct the 007/008 uses a spring where the splitter uses an internal diaphragm

Definitely recommend the 008. Makes it a bit louder too

I'd just stick with the OEM valve. It's a fraction of the price, faster acting, maintainance free, and is perfectly reliable up to 300bhp.

Aftermarket valves simply look nice and shiny, they offer no performance gains.

Haha, Just as everyone was suggesting the 007/008 - It only take's one person to make me think twice, I'm undecided, not sure how much the OEM one's are, tried to have a look but can't see much. Would it be through Seat do you think??

Cheers, Just looked online, 008 is going for around £145 whilst the splitter is at £175

I know price doesn't always determine the best, but unusual, right ?

That's true.

Splitter has a weird setup - can be fully recirculation, fully atmosphere so I guess it's more complex. Therefore a higher price, that's all I can think of

Stock at £35 and it's "fit and forget" is perfect for me.

Wow, wasn't expecting it to be THAT much of a difference to be honest, any idea on where to get them??

Any main dealer mate. Seat/VW/Audi or skoda. They all use the same valve, got mine from an audi dealer last time as seat had to order them in.

Part number is 06A 145 710N

Suppose it depends on what you're after, its been said the aftermarket ones tidy up the engine bay a bit, look and sound better, someone said OEM are fine upto 300bhp, from new id agree, but they weren't designed to deal with that amount of boost so aftermarket is a safer bet if you're increasing the horses, if not, and your not tidying up the engine bay OEM is fine, Ronseal!

cheap, seals well, opens quickly..

what we run on our lupo.. 400bhp hybrid.. Holds 24psi no problem on it.
