boost cut

Hey everyone, I have a MK1 Leon cupra (180), and when I put my foot all the way to the floor and hit about 3.5K rpm, the boost cuts out and the engine light comes on for a minute then clears, but if I'm more careful then boost holds all the way through the rev range. Feels like maybe a BOV or...
