Hi All,

I'm not all that experienced with mechanics, Just basic knowledge. I'm having the following issue:

Seat Leon Cupra 1p 2.0 tfsi engine cutting out/ RPM drops under boost. I can drive around 2k rpm just fine, as soon as I try to raise rpm's accelerating to about 2.5-3k the whole engine feels like it cuts out and quickly comes back on and the dials drop right down and then come back again when it returns the cars back to about 2k again.

This video show what is happening when i'm idling and rev it a bit.

Thanks in advance!

Hi it sounds like a misfire but really hard to pinpoint like this. Have you got someone who can scan the car and see if you can get a clue in which area the car thinks the problem is? For example is it showing a misfire on cylinder3 etc. Have you recently done anything to the car work wise prior to this problem big or small?
It might be a coilpack breaking down under load but usually this would flash the EML while misfiring on these.
Where are you based I can scan it for you if you’re not hours away.

Hi thanks for this, didnt do any work it, just randomly started these symtoms. I also didn't get an EML. I ended up taking it to a specialist and they found that there was an airleak from the recirculation piping off the air intake. They've sealed it for now, but it's a fairly old airtec intake and I expect I'll get a Ramair intake to replace it, if the repair seal breaks again in the future. Thankful it was a really small issue!
