Hi guys
I have gotten a shim and cap for my leon pd150 just to have it done, I'm in the middle of alot of maintenance turbo, cam, bushings, pads and discs, tyres, timing belt etc etc it's all come at once it's killing me lol!!

Anyway I popped off the cap and the shaft has enough play for 2 shims at least I'd say 3 would leave it hard to get the retaining ring back on. Should I fit 2 or should there be a minimum amount of play?
Any advise would be great!

I've never heard of anyone installing more than one shim. There is probably meant to be a certain amount of endfloat on the shaft. I''d just fit the one and leave it at that.

Me neither, if there's that much play in the shaft is be inclined into thinking the gearbox is considerably worn.

I couldn't find anywhere what the correct amount of free play should be but yes I would definitely think there should be some! I'll go with one the box seems OK anyway this is just preventative!
Thanks for the help!
