Yeahh its brilliant! Fuel consumption is measured in smiles per gallon, sovery high, i don't drive to conserve fuel im afraid so barely look at it.

So this has been bugging me for a while...

Do I want my 1.2TSI 105 to be a 1.2TSI 130... Hell yeah.

However, what if my car has a dodgy turbo or something and the remap makes things worse. I take it into the dealership for a warranty claim. Will they replace it or will I be forking out for a turbo?

I haven't heard of any real issues with the 1.2 turbo engine. A remap will put slightly more strain on the engine, but really only if you're ragging it everywhere, in which case you'll encounter problems anyhow. If you just drive normally there shouldn't be any issues. In terms of warranty, to the best of my knowledge dealers can now tell if a car has a different map as a code registers on the diagnostic. However, that doesn't mean that everything that happens when a car is mapped is due to the map if you know what I mean, but it is a loophole dealers will try to exploit. I've had sveral cars mapped though and never encountered any issues.

Hi,

I have the 1.2 tsi engine (CBZB) as well and had it remapped with the SuperChips map. Fuel efficiency is down somewhat, in the region of 10-20% but I can live with that. The car feels like it has had a new breath of life, it's made driving the car so much more fun again.

This was all great until I had an error code thrown out and sent the car into limp mode. (cant remember exactly the code but i think it was P334 or P334a, charge actuator position malfunction or something of the such. Basically the ECU read a waste gate reading that was outside of expected parameters) I reset this code and was on my way again thinking nothing of this as I've seen this code on other CBZB engines before. My brother has the exact same car as me and pre-remap the cars were identical 0-80mph as expected. It appears since resetting this code that our cars are now both the same speed again but now I am left with this fuel inefficiency.

It appears that the extra boost from the remap has disappeared but I am still left with the over fuelling to match this extra air that no longer exists. As I'm still getting reduced MPG this leads me to believe my AFR must be way out and I'll be contacting the dealer that installed the remap and SuperChips today to see what they can do.

CBZB engine does have turbo issues but it's usually the electronic actuator that fails and not the turbo itself.
sadly it's not a part available separately and requires a full new unit.
