Currently got a 1.4 MK4 Ibiza but thinking of changing to a 2014 MK5 1.2TSI Ibiza FR. The book states that it does 55 mpg but I've read a few reviews and seen peoples figures on fuelly.com and the actual mpg seems to be more like 35!

What mpg are you getting from yours?

I mainly do motorway journeys, not many short runs.

I have searched the forum for this but the threads are old so I'd like to see peoples recent figures.

My 14 plate comes in just over a week so I can't talk from direct experience but my mate has one so I obviously asked him everything before I went ahead with mine, he does mostly motor way runs too and he says driving sensibly without being daft he can an average of about 47, which is still brilliant I think

Be interesting to see what you get from actual calculations rather than what the trip says. My old 2010 1.2tsi averaged about 37.5mpg actual.

Mine is an early 2011 1.2 TSI SE. Overall I have averaged 45 (all the miles ever done / all the petrol ever put in).

It's hilly around here. Driving up onto the moor I get around 38 mpg. Coming down off the moor I get around 56!

I've got a 1.2 tsi 2012 usually get on average 42 mpg but that's always driving it sensible. I have had 46 mpg out of it before

Ive got a 63 plate 1.2 FR and around town driving sensible i get about 40-42 MPG haven't really done much motorway miles yet but you should get a good figure

I've done 12,500 miles in my 1.2 TSI and have averaged 41 MPG (according to fuelly) from new. My best MPG over the course of a tank was 50.6 MPG and I tend to average 39-42 MPG around town, 43-47 MPG on the motorway. Being a small engine, it can use very little fuel in the right conditions, but give it a hilly bit of motorway, strong winds and lots of standing water and the MPG drops because it has to work so much harder. I don't think diesels suffer as significantly under varying conditions in relation to MPG. All in all though, if it's not thrashed, it's pretty economical. If you get the turbo going too much, the MPG drops like a stone!

Thanks for that! Seems low 40s is the average. Was hoping it would be closer to the 55 in the book!

best I've seen with careful driving was 52 :D

Usually about 48 everyday, 30 mile trip to work which is mainly 60-70 mph

Our 63 reg with 4000 miles, does low 40's around town, very low 50's driving like a ***** on a long run.

i average low 40's with 8000miles on the clock and this is an 80mile round trip to uni 3 times a week and the rest wee short trips, i can get 60+mpg on the motorway driving like and old granny but wheres the fun in that

Ive got a 12 plate fr with remap running about 130bhp and around 189 lb-ft torque. I get more mpg than i did standard. I get around 53 mpg do 250 miles a week with a few motorway runs and driving through towns and i only use just under 1/4 tank. I do put the premium petrol in like...

Okay lads In just under a week I've averaged 34 mpg! Must have spent near £100 on petrol this week but done nearly 500 miles. Going to be driving like an absolute nana to work this week to try get it up a bit!

I'd say as in my 1.4FR i avg. 30-35mpg so you must have a lead foot lol

I admit took me awhile to get used to a petrol again as I used to use my dads diesel ibiza ecomotive where I'd avg. 40-60mpg depending on city or motorway driving

Haha it's hard to resist temptation sometimes as well isn't it
