Curt here!
Hi All
No offense taken however no one answered my direct query, so I've done it now and can report (which is what forums are really for)!
It's very easy to change the oil on the 1.2TSI and not a drop spilled from the oil filter on removal; it's brilliant having the oil filter self draining to the sump. I didn't overfill.
I'd continue to recommend a 10k first oil change on car with a long life service schedule and DIY means I got to inspect the underside of the engine bay with the splashguards removed.
As said elsewhere the cost penalty for 507.00 is almost negligable, so why not.
I got 5 litres for £23.00 and used a genuine oil filter. The sump plug didn't need replacement in fact the replacement (which I got anyway) was physically different so that could have alerted Seat.
There are some tail ends of the front suspension that hang down below the plastic underside of the car and they're going rusty; not impressive for a 12 month old car.
The car's running really well.
Joe.
