They are definitely quicker than book based on those (I make them about 7.6 and 6.3 but the 1.4 angle is a bit funny) but the thing is aren't all cars? I mean dont they have to test them with like 2 people and so much fuel and luggage?

The speedo is out don't forget, mine reads 63 or 64 mph at a genuine 60 mph. How are the figures beiing measured, if its a stopwatch how fast does the operator react.

At the end of the day 0 - 60's are irrelevant in the real world, where the 1.4 TSi scores is its 30 - 50 amd 50 - 70 acceleration. It will leave most cars behind taht have faster 0 - 60's but no turbo to boost the midrange.

I have had much more powerful (and lighter) cars than the 1.4 TSi with better 0 - 60's according to the figures but none has had the over taking grunt.

How often do you do 0-60? Unless your 17 anyway.

Gimme 30-50, 50-70 any day.

The official figures are 0-62 which is 0-100 kph which makes a slight difference.

Taking into account the 5% to 10 % speedo over-read then I would expect the 0-60 times measured from the speedo to be significantly better than the official figures, as much as 0.5 seconds.

I think 0-60 is a good widely understood bench mark for off the line performance. I agree, 30-50 are better road performance figures when you don't want to rev your car so hard. I did a 0-60 on my car recently because I wanted to see if it had got slower or faster over 61,000 miles since new... it was about the same.
