Hi guys, noticed a trail of oil coming from where my car is parked and also when it’s parked at work, Going to have a look tomorrow to see if I can pin point where it’s coming from. Is there any common areas where the 1.4 tsi engines leak from?

Cheers

The level was slightly down so just gave it a top up. Has been a never ending list of problems with this car. Couldn’t see anything obvious while looking in the engine bay, so will have to get underneath the car tomorrow.

Mine has leaked twice, both times it was the sump plug. There is now an updated sump plug which I’ve had no issues with since the dealer started using it.

The oil in mine gathered in the driver side of the under tray then dripped out through the hole to let water escape.

Saying that the car has been serviced recently so maybe used the old sump plug? Have you guys got the part number for the revised sump plug?

Yes. Had the sump plug issue with mine that was sorted with the revised design.

@JamieD; sump plug was my first thought when I read your post, especially if your car’s gone from having no oil leak to leaving a trail of oil since your recent service. Was the service carried out by a Seat dealer? To quote from the Seat website;

‘Your SEAT is special to you, and deserves special treatment when it’s time for a service or repair. So put it in the hands of people who know and care about your car as much as you do: your SEAT Dealer’.

If it was a Seat dealer and if they have reused the old sump plug, then they should know better - not really the ‘special treatment’ you’d expect ‘by people who know and care for your car as much as you do!’

No service wasn’t done at seat, I went to my local VW garage there as the seat one is quite a bit away and the parts guy gave me the revised sump plug for free, so going to change it and the oil today. How much oil does the 1.4 take as keep seeing online it takes 4 litres and other saying it take 4.5?

My notes on my oil change from 6 months ago say 4.0litres but cannot remember if that is with or without filter?

So in the end it was just the sump plug, the garage had used a copper washer that was a poor fit. So new oil and filter and new sump plug and leak free so far.

Noticed oil on my driveway, so asked the local garage ( non seat ) to have a look.
After reading up on here about oil issues, I expected it to be the sump plug, but garage says it's the sump itself that's leaking.
Dealer part, which will be £235 supplied ( to local garage ) and fitted.

Anyone else experienced this ? My car is 2013 1.4 fr with 81 000 miles on it.

Also, still on original timing belt. Time to change that too maybe ?

What part of the sump is leaking?

I had my timing belt done in January. Mines also a 2013 but had 50k miles. Done for peace of mind as I intend keeping the car for a few more years and it also keeps my extended warranty right.

Not sure. By the time the car was ready ( they serviced it at the same time ) the undertrays were back on. .
