Hi all want to get a set of 19s for my missus mk2 FR TDI and know thw stud pattern is 112x5, but wondering if it would be possible to use a set of wheels with a 32 offset. Presume that the lower the number the further it sticks out. The wheels are 8 inch wide so anyone know if they will fit and are they going to look stupid (sticking out to far)

Cheers Dai

Mine are ET44 on 8" Wide Rims which I think are just right. ET32 would stick out way too much IMO.

Hi m8, I take it the rebuild went well then?

Personally wouldnt go bigger than 18" unless you will be constantly driving on perfectly flat roads!

To be fair the ride is no better or worse with the 19" wheels & 35 profile tyres. Like you say it's the roads that are to blame not our cars wheel/suspension set-ups.

Hey Dave, yea went ok cheers. Few probs but pretty much sorted now.

I know what you mean about the 19's, ive got them on my mk1 and currently have a claim in with the council for damage to one of mine last week. I have one eye on the traffic and one eye looking for holes in the road (the other eye i doing a crossword ;))!
I wanted to put 18's on it because the ride is firm as standard on the fr and much cheaper tyres, but as soon as i mentioned 18's to the missus she said why cant i have the same size as yours (made me laugh she is so competitive) so suppose will have to keep her happy :)

I was like that with my last car.. Had 18s on a Focus with 35 tyres and although it looked great it was a pain. I ended up slightly denting one of mine, enough to let the air out of the tyre so sold them all and went back to 17s..
