Good news mate, looks like another possible solution to my potential problem !!!

remove it - only a few bolts and a clip for the air pipe

and use carb cleaner to de varnish it all inside

where can i get a carb cleaner?! just from halfords?

where is the airmass meter on the 2.0 8v? is it the little metal box straight after the air box??
