Hello!

At the moment I am considering buying the 2.0 FSI Stylance and am looking for a bit of advice. I am very aware that there are very few posts on this forum where petrols are the subject (almost none on the non turbo version). Now I know everyone seems to go for the diesels, but having driven the diesels the idling engine noise and the noise at low speed seems unbearable comparable to the petrol. Did anyone get over the same annoyance and now like the tdi? Furthermore I only do 10k a year so am not sure if the saving of diesel would be that great. What sort of mpgs are people getting in the 2.0 FSI?

Any help / advice would be much appreciated.

Hello,

I have the 2.0fsi reference sport, which i have had since last october(3500 miles on the clock).I`m getting approximately 35 mpg driving in the city/country.Driving fairly briskly outside of town.

I find the engine very smooth and quiet, with a fair amount of poke.
I do probably the same amount of miles/year as you, so no need of the noisy
diesel.:)

Thanks corky, thats good news, any other comments would be most welcome...

If the non Turbo one only does 35mpg then there isn't a hope in hell of the FR or Cupra doing 34mpg!! :censored: Marketing people hey?

I have a 1.6 stylance thats currently doing 29mpg. I also have an average speed of 17mph, gah. Bloody traffic......

2.0fsi Stylance

Hi Densil,
I think you will enjoy the Stylance very much. Compared to mine (ref. sport)
the ride will be much more compliant Sometimes i wish i went for the stylance,
due to the very harsh ride i experience in town over the rough road surfaces.

Also you have a lot of the extras i would have liked-climate, esp, extra.and of course you have that "warm-hatch" engine, perfectly good enough for todays
roads and economical, unlike the thirsty turbo version.

I think buying the 2.0fsi stylance is a good one!

If it helps on a long motorway journey averaging around 75mph ( set by GPS so about 80 on the speedo) I get around 33/34mpg, first 4000 miles have average around 28/29. I have t TFSI FR, so imagine the naturally aspirated will be a bit better but shouldn't think more than a couple of miles to the gallon or so better off.

To state the obvious it all depends how many miles you drive and bear in mind diesel is about 5p more a mile, yet tax is cheaper etc.

Wehn we got our FR TDI i was a little disappointed with the fuel economy (compared with a 130 sport ibiza). We get around 41-43 (41 is when we drive it like it's meant to driven). Looks like 10 mpg more than the petrol though so I shouldn't complain.

I've got the 2.0 TDI. The noise to me in unnoticable, not a problem at all. The fuel consumption, i'm getting around 42mpg - my drive to work 13 miles - 30 mins. I considered the fsi as i thought the diesel would be too sluggish, but i test drove and i was wrong.

The diesel is better for the environment isn't it...
