I think a lot of the mapping stuff depends on the state of the current clutch (i.e. how many miles, how hard its been driven), but I think you'll need one otherwise it wont really be worth it.
As for the EBC pads, I wouldn't stick them on my road bike let alone a car of any sort! There are plenty of decent brands out there.
Exhaust side I'm running a Milltek system and the noise isn't anything more than I already had (BTCC Remus system). Maybe a little bit on full throttle but nothing that droans like some I've had on Jap cars. Lumby if you want to hear what the Milltek sounds like drop me a PM and we can meet up.
