Hi Everyone!

Would somebody please be able to pint me the right direction for a suitable kit, stalk, wiring harness, instructions etc. for my car to retrofit cruise control?

I have done some research and I am a bit confused about the kit I need to buy.
My Ibiza is a 58 reg and is a 6J but seems to have the 6L type stalks.

Apparently the stalks have been updated from mid 2009 so I just need to make sure I buy the correct ones.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Cartman,

Thank you for the reply.

This is exactly what the problem is. I am trying to find out what the stock part numbers would be for my car.

Kufatec sells the wiring loom and there are a lot of stalks that look the one I need but the part numbers end differently.

Example: the one that looks like the one I need goes with the part number: 7H0953513C

But on ebay there are ones that look exactly the same but with part number 7H0953513DC

And which one is going to work with the Kufatec wiring?

Confusing....

I only changed the cruise control one and not the other. And you also need the wireing harness as cables aren’t run and then need to vag com it into the computer.

Cartman,

I have VCDS to activate the system once installed.

On the Ibiza the 2 stalks are in one unit so I have to change the whole thing not just one side.

The wiring harness part number is the other thing I would need to find out before I buy.

This is what I need help with.

VIN VSSZZZ6JZ9R023810
Something is wrong…
There is no result for your VIN code or your entered VIN code is incorrect!
Please try again

This is what it says for my VIN

I have checked twice and that's the number

For some reason none of the sites recognize my VIN number.

Any idea what could cause this please?

Thank you.

Like I said go to dealer and they sell it as a kit to install it and in worse case you could always get part number to order it.

Dealer now confirmed that the part number for the stalk I had is the correct on so I ordered the stalk.

But I have bee told that the cable does not exist as a kit from them so I need to figure it out somehow.

Any help anyone could give me with the wiring would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

That’s gonna be complicated, you need to get wireing diagram for both cars and then compare and see witch wires you need to run and where, also if you need to move wires around as well

I have access to Elsawin so I will try to find the wiring info on there.

The problem now is that the car's VIN number does not seem to work.

Also Elsawin wants the gearbox code for the vehicle ID and I can't find that anywhere. It is not on the sticker where I found the engine code etc.

Hum, VIN don't working on some parts sites seems to be a UK only issue for some reason, gearbox type not listed on build data label is also an Ibiza "special" so don't worry about either of these things.

Did you try to buy a Kufatec wiring kit, they are usually quite good at making the correct kit, this used to be a very easy upgrade years ago, I've always had cars with CC so never had the need to try to do this, but there did seem to be a few people achieving that.

One other thing, I would not bother too much if you find a part that starts with 6L it just means that design wise that has been a very stable part and so no revision has been required, it is a revision during the production phase of 6J Ibiza that would change it to 6J or any other similar sized VW Group car's platform identifier.

Edit:- yes there is a Kufatec wiring kit, make sure that you read everything written in that area of Kufatec as it indicates that you might need to replace a control module, so cost that it if you need it.

Hi RUM,

thank you for the reply.

Kufatec confirmed the harness I need so I will be getting it from them.

I was going to make up the harness myself but the crimp terminals work out to cost almost as much as the harness from Kufatec....

My car is a 58 reg and Seat changed the stalk design mid 2009 to the newer version. Mine however is before the change so still using the 6L style stalk.

The control unit is compatible I already checked that.

I will be away on holiday for a couple of weeks now so I will get back to this after.
