MATT-IBIZA 1.9

Guest
Company wants to send my ibiza sport 1.9 tdi back to the lease company and give me a 2008 leon stylance 1.9tdi in white, and i need exterior suggestions.

ive already booked it in at www.chipboost.com for another remap similar to my last one on the ibiza. £200 quid will take it to around 140-145bhp (oh joy)

now what body kit am i best banging on?

FR kit from seat dealer is £627 for front and rear bumpers and a boot spoiler.

BTCC body kit ive seen on here for around £700?

basically which one would you guys go for bearing in mind its only a slow thing underneath, im scared of making it look like a quick car when its blatantly not?

then wheels...... its currently got some god awful 16" things on it which wont be in keeping with my chosen body kit, i was thinking 17" FR rims? or would i be best matching the wheels to the body kit i choose bearing in mind i cant go above 17" otherwise the lease company would question whythey have to pay the extra when i need new tyres fitting.

im sure there must be someone that has put either of these kits on a stylance? advise and opinions required. thanks

Are you paying for this or the company? If its a company car, I would not spend a single penny on it, and if I did, it would certainly not be on a body kit that can't come off the car when they make you change to something else.

yes im paying for it, ive got to have this car for a further 2 years and i cannot drive it as it is!

surely when it comes to send it back time i could simply replace with standard kit and sell on the stuff separately to recoup some of the orginal cost?

my second and most probable choice is to buy the car (as we always get the chance to do) from the lease company, bearing in mind they think its all standard, then sell it separately myself as it will be more desirable with all the kit on with the bonus of retaining low insurance group and fuel economy. seems to work quite well as others have done similar at work and made 2k in 2 weeks doing it.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a body kit, for the reason you state yourself: what's the point in making it look like a go-faster model when it's not?

I wouldn't change the wheels either - I'm perfectly happy with my OE 16" alloys - but I realise I'm probably in the minority on this forum in that respect... ;)

shrimp, lots of members on here seem to make their car look like the next model up in terms of body kit but without increasing bhp? theres loads of standard fr's but with btcc kits on??

think ive made up my mind, tempting as it is the stylance does not need to look like a btcc car ha. so for fr looks all i need is front and rear bumpers and a boot spoiler and of course wheels.......anyone selling these? cheers for the speedy reply people

By the way, if the car is mapped and your company dont know, presumably their insurance wont know, and you have an accident and they can prove it was tuned by you, - well you see where I am going.

i overcome this fact when i went and got my ibiza remapped, something i just hope never happens i guess. what are the chances of them removing the ecu to check the number then plugging into vag-com to make sure they match?? very slight! insurers usually send a tyre kicker

back to the fr bumpers and spoiler.........if i bought one on ebay already painted, would this be a nightmare for a body shop to turn white to match mine?

exactly what iv done with my leon 105
fr bumpers are all over ebay for peanuts as for wheels look around this forum theres plenty sets flyin around

I would be more worried if I ran over a kid and the Police and insurance looked over my car.

think your going a bit far there Al, even if i did then what? my insurance is exempt or are you implying id be seen in the eyes of the law as a murderer because a 30% mod hahaha

i appreciate your concerns but ive been through all this before, its not the question here though. exterior styling of my stylance is the topic :)

cool an answer that fits the question. THANKS. did you buy already painted bumbers from ebay? if so did it cost much more to paint to your chosen colour at the body shop? and when you say on this forum, where abouts? is there a for sale section?

alot of people tend to go for the btcc kits so they flog off their leftovers on fleebay
i bought a mint black one for 35 delivered
rear bumper is not much different IMO just the reflectors are bit higher up on the fr version as for the wheels check in the for sale section

Just add Cupra bumpers and change the wheels (both available on the web for low prices ie ebay). Both could be taken off and sold on when moving on the car. And remember to tell the insurance about the changes ;)

Any non standard modifications, cosmetic or otherwise that is not declared will void your insurance, Hence you are driving illegally.

I dont think a victims family would be saying ha ha ha

On my soap box, as I know several people that have been hit by uninsured drivers.

Happy modding:)

^^^^^^^^^^
 Agreed

And yes, the Police will go over your car with a fine tooth comb with the insurance company if the **** hits the fan.

I've got experience of this on a previous company car.............

You must get written permission from the lease company, your company and the insurance company BEFORE you change / add anything.

I got caught and had a pay several hundred pounds having things removed and the car put back into it's original condition.

My advice - leave it as it is or opt out of the car scheme and buy your own!!

Well the op is just plain stupid. If you hit me at a junction and its a right off and the cars get looked over and your insurance is void because you didnt declare your mods then its me thats paying out my excess, loosing ncb because of your stupidity on not declaring your mods to the leasing company and insurance. Basically its like this :birdy:

If you have an accident of any kind, the lease company will no doubt want to see the car and will notice the exterior bodykit and so will your insurance and obviously its not declared then there not likely to pay for it to be repared are they???

Dont mod your car if you carnt because of leasing or if your just too plain stupid to bother asking them if you can.

Why take the risk for the sake of a phone call to the lease company and the insurer

Agree with what the guys are saying! You wouldnt buy a car and not insure it so why get onsurance and then void it! Your paying insurance for nothing and if anything does happen ul have a big bill!

If u hit a kid like al said the police would come down on you like a ton of bricks! Not worth it in my opinion!
The guilt, money or time bannEd from driving
