The mothers partner saw me detailing my car last week and was inlove with how clean it looked and how smooth the paint felt, so he asked me to do his while he was away.
The car is a 2010 AUdi A5, with 23500 on the clock. He does a lot of mileage because of work which involves driving to remote parts of North Yorkshire and driving across
fields. He also does around 800 - 1000 miles a week So you can imagine the kind of stick the car gets.

He bought the car with 15,500 miles on it in October '11. I went with him to check it out and noticed the paint work had a lot of contaminanets so he got them to 'buff' it as the dealer put it

He very kindly left it for me in an absolute state, covered in mud, grit, grease, salt etc..

As the pictures show.

DAY 1
So first i got to the wheels.

Using a Cone shaped wheel brush (halfords), Iron X, AG Itensive Tar Remover and AG Custom Wheel Cleaner, i cleaned the wheels.
After Wash

IMG-20120120-00119.jpg

Then i washed the car using the 2 bucket method.

No beading or sheeting from the paintwork.
IMG-20120120-00120.jpg

I then set about Claying the paintwork. Using Zaino Z18 Clay Bar and DodoJuice Born Slippy as lubricant.

Bootlid (as sign of things to come)

Was the same for both sides, pretty bad contamination. I do not think the car has ever had a proper detail.

I then pulled the car out into the rain to give it another wash.

Some beading from just the clay.
IMG-20120120-00129.jpg

I then dried the car using MF cloths and put it away for the night.

That was the end of day one (6 hours spent - only started at 12 because i'm a lazy bugger)

DAY 2

Nice reflection shot after only being clayed, no polish no nothing.
IMG-20120121-00133.jpg

I then applied AG Super Resin Polish all over the car
IMG-20120121-00131.jpg

Which i machined off using an ultra soft polishing foam pad, which left this
IMG-20120121-00132.jpg

IMG-20120121-00134.jpg

IMG-20120121-00135.jpg

Next was the sealant, i used AG Extra Gloss Protection.
IMG-20120121-00136.jpg

While this cured i applied AG SRP to the wheels
Applied
IMG-20120121-00139.jpg

Polished:
IMG-20120121-00140.jpg

I then removed the EGP using a clean MF (No Pics)

Next, was the wax, I used FK1000P because it's inexpensive, easy to apply, easy to remove and last ages!

Curing

-------BREAK-----------

I then started on the interior which gets a pretty good hammering as you can see.
IMG-20120121-00144.jpg

I vacuumed all the carpets and seats. I removed the rubber floor matts so i sould give them a good scrub
and they can up very well (Pic doesn't do it justce)
IMG-20120122-00161.jpg

I also treated all the interior with this stuff
IMG-20120121-00152.jpg

Essentially it repels water and protects all fabrics including leather.

I then opened the bonnet and gave it a good clean using Megs Supreme Vinyl & Rubber protectant.

Before
IMG-20120121-00147.jpg

After (again pic doesn't really do it justice)
IMG-20120122-00162.jpg

Stole an idea i saw on DW to clean the windscreen
IMG-20120121-00150.jpg

Now the wax had cured i buffed it off with another clean MF leaving this

IMG-20120121-00149.jpg

I then polished all the windows and mirrors with AG Glass Polish.

Then got this little bottle of goodness out
IMG-20120121-00151.jpg

It's like rain X but better, and last a long long time.

Another photo after Day 2

Day 3 - Finishing Touches

I then went out again and polished the exhausts. They were pretty much pitted, lifeless and dull.

IMG-20120120-00110.jpg

I tried with some AG Intensive Tar Remover which didnt touch any of the tar.

I then got out the AG Metal Polish which worked a treat.

IMG-20120122-00157.jpg

Left exhaust before
IMG-20120122-00158.jpg

50/50
IMG-20120122-00158.jpg

All polished with a touch of AG SRP too.
IMG-20120122-00159.jpg

And there we are!

One last after shot, all tucked away for now. Ready to get shitted up in 10 mins of driving!

Lol, bit like what i do for my parents car. I do get paid well fortunately :)

Good work jordan, if it was my personal car i would have taken the wheels off and cleaned them properly inside, however, i'm sure the owner could'nt care if the inside of his wheels were sparkling. It's only nutters like myself lol...

Snap! My mums got a range rover sport too. I clayed and waxed it yesterday with poorboys white diamond and EGP.

I wash inside my own wheels everytime i wash the car with my hand as i think it works better than a brush.

You did an awesome job though, got my fingers crossed mine will come out like this! I wish.

Yeah that is the one thing i forgot!

I need a good camera, i thought my phone camera was good (BB Torch) until i started trying to photograph stuff then i realised just how crap it is.

spill! What is that, because I need it in my life!

Haha I dont know what it is called but its pretty much and extendable floor cleaner.

Essentially its a stick with a flexible head which you stick an MF cloth on the end! I saw it on detailing world and had to have one! So i had a look in the cleaning cupboard and lo behold we had one, with a clean mf for it too! So it's mine now :)

Something like this would do the job

Ooohhh, much thanks! We have something along those lines, but its not got anything that could adjust to the curvature of the windscreen. Much appreciated! And top class job on the detail, looks better than new! :cam:
