2020 Leon 150ps - Intermittent electrical issue on start up

Good day,

My warranty is nearly out but would like to know if anyone else has had an issue with their Leon having a very rare and random hissy fit when starting the engine.

The engine starts up initially and sounds rough like a certain sequence isnt being carried out properly and continues to run rough. At the same time the cluster is lit up like a xmas tree with multiple systems inoperative.

I then cycle the ignition and it is totally fine and can go on for a week or up to a month without faulting again.

I find it hard to believe to be a wiring issue because you would think it would happen while driving but only on startup. Some sort of PCM issue?

Please advise.

Perhaps check battery voltage? It might be stable with no load but may be dipping way below under load (starting), I know that can cause control modules to freak out a little on previous gen VAG stuff.

Sounds like a battery on its way out. My last car (Insignia) used to do the same thing in really cold weather before the battery gave up the ghost and I replaced it.

Would be unlucky for a battery to fail so soon on a 2020 car though!
Don't Halfords do a free battery check?

There’s been a few battery failures on VW Golfs within the 3 year factory warranty period and replaced free of charge by VW.

Yes, I think Halfords do a free battery check so worth the OP getting it checked and if it has failed, then like VW, presumably Seat would also replace it under warranty.

I had my battery fail after 2 years and was replaced under warranty on a 2017 Leon. The mobile VAG guy to came to the house said the VW had bought a duff batch of batteries.
