Hello,

I recently bought a Seat Leon (DSG 2017) 4 months ago. 2 months into owning it I get a red cog saying gearbox faulty, with the lever stuck in park. After restarting the car multiple times the red cog went away but there was an engine management light. I took it back to the place I got it from, they stated it was a technical glitch , there's nothing wrong with it, the guy took it for a drive and cleared the codes. A few days ago, the sign comes up again, this time I plugged in my obd scanner (recent purchase) and these codes came up:

Engine Control Module:
P091900- Gear shift position control error - severe

Transmission Control module:
P173400- Starter enable from selector lever sensor - severe
U010300- Lost communication with Gear shift module- severe

Steering colum Electronics:
B116229- Selector lever park position lock switch range/performance

Gateway
U000900
High speed CAN communication Bus (-) shorted to Bus (+)

I've rang up gearbox specialists near me and they've said it sounds like a mechatronic unit issue, which will cost from 2k-4k. I was just wondering is that how much these cost to fix/replace? And is it possible there's a lesser issue at hand? I still have 2 months of warranty left with the garage I bought it from but these guys keep telling me there's nothing wrong with it. I'm planning on getting the issue diagnosed and then taking it to them.

Thanks.

A fairly well-known problem in DSG transmissions. There is probably a faulty selector sensor or its wiring harness. The sensor is located under the gearstick lever, this is where I would look for the problem in the first place.

As @Karollo says, I'm fairly sure that this is related to the 'park position sensor switch'.
