About sound.
It’s a law in EU! Hybrids and EV:s must have some noise up to 30.

Thanks for the in depth review. I have a PHEV Xcellence estate ordered for delivery some time in April. I ordered the car due to the low tax rate as this will be a company car but haven't been able to drive one or even sit in one due to the pandemic. Hopefully I'll like it.?

One question - what charging cables are supplied with the car? The literature is a but vague on the subject.
did you ever get an answer to this as I'm interested t know too.?

In the latest UK pricelist (page 24) it comes with both mode 2 (10 amp) and mode 3 (16 amp) cables as standard

However earlier spec e-Hybrids only came with a mode 2 as standard

cheers the dealer seemed to suggest it would come with amode2 but as my order will be coming from the factory I'll point out that the pricelist says it comes with both

There's no such thing as a type 3 cable, only type 1 and 2. Type refers to the socket type on the car. There is however a mode 3 cable. Mode 2 has a standard 3 pin (in UK & IRL) plug on the end, Mode 3 has the same socket as the car end.

  • Charging cable (Mode 3) (e-HYBRID only) 16 amp available on Fr, Fr sport, Xcellence and xcelence Lux.'

Hi, thinking of returning to Seat and getting one of these. Anything to look out for on test drives/inspections? Tia

Mode and Type are 2 different words that don't mean the same thing ;-)

Nice review thank you, I have a holding deposit down on a FR. I'm horrified to find you only managed 50MPG on a run, I'm coming from a full on hybrid where over 70mpg was easily achievable. most of my driving will hopefully be fully electric, I'm not buying this car to drive fast but its nice to know that the speed is there if required.

apparently its only possible to get a charger fitted on the government scheme if you have a drive but I havea front garden so that's a no, no however there is a source London charging point opposite my house but as the car only charges at 7 Kw and will take approx 4 hours at a cost of between 8.64 ( if subscribe to membership) and £16.80 PAYG and giving only 40 miles on a full charge whereas I can get approx 350 miles on a £50 petrol fill of stop start short journeys anyway. Shame the current edition doesnt include the reversing camera as I need hand controls and a steering ball the reversing camera is an essential bit of kit for me now and its not even a factory option and the dealers quoting me £ 495 to have one fitted by his installer. I appreciate that wont effect most of you but it sadly makes this model unviable for me now which is a real shame as I'm really enjoying my current mark 3 FR

Excellent review! :)
Any idea how long the 13A charging cable is?
Just measured mine and it's around 5.7m ish. Difficult to measure to be honest as it's not very straight after being in my boot for 6 months. All I know is that as I didn't have an outside socket it was nowhere near long enough. Always had to use it with a suitably rated extension lead.

Thanks so much for that! Brilliant. :) Definitely longer than the Outlander lead for which I usually need a beefy long extension lead!

Think I'll wire a 16A commando wall socket into my consumer unit in the garage (where I nightly charge my Outlander PHEV) when my ehybrid finally arrives with me, will improve the charging time over that of 13A 3pin normal domestic UK socket
