I perhaps foolishly have given my alternative key (mechanical type) to my girlfriend. She occasionally puts or retreives items from the car. However unless she puts the key in the ignition and turns the engine on, the alarm will sound when she locks the car up. Is this correct ? To rectify this she must unlock the car and turn the enginne over. My dealer says this is normal, but it does seem daft, though it is probably a security measure. Does anyone else experience the same ?

You only have to put the ignition lights on, not turn the engine over.
I'ts a security feature so that tea leafs cant just screw the locks to get in without triggering the alarm

I've got a second flippy(off ebay) made up ready to be programmed when I can find a dealer who won't fleece me for 10 minutes work!!

If you buy the flippy key from a dealer then your talking anywhere up to £140

its probably on here somewhere, what about getting it cut?

actually - you need to get info from seat (security codes) specific to your car. so probably a dealer only job

i called seat today and they said £85 for the key and to program it:)

JCT quoted me over £60 just to program one and were adamant it was an hours job!!!, although Richard Alexander quoted me £15 just yesterday.
