I have a recuring emissions fault light and have been told told it points towards a similar sounding problem, they have checked all the hoses and suggested replacing the sensor which is giving the fault.. However this isn't under warrantee so want to try everything else first, not sure what a vnt exercising test is if anyone can help thanks

have you plugged it into VAG-com??

Not plugged it in, has been to where my pal works and they got the fault code not sure what they used to get it tho..
Will get the fault code from him asap

phil,
take you not had the issues since taking to Ali at Unit 18?
sounds like he mapped it out for you. nice man. Or did he doing something specific?

the fault hasnt come back as of yet, what he did for me was changed the parameters of the egr valve so it doesnt trigger as frequently, he's going to map the egr out completly when i get a custom map in the coming months.

Hi again, fault code is P0237 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Low.
They have recommended replacement of the sensor part number 116621
Still going into limp mode 70% of the time but driving like a dream when it doesn't.
They've quoted me £160 to supply and fit the new sensor but can't guarantee it will work so not sur what to do next..

when it goes into limp mode is it anything specific that triggers it?? booting it away from roundabouts etc

Doesn't seem to be anything in particular causing it, fault light comes on most times when i start up and limp mode is usaully on within the first 500metres if its going to be.
Before the fault became serious I ran the fuel low one day after getting trapped on the motorway through my own stupidity... doh!
Oil did get a little low at one point but topped up now with the best stuff, don't know whether either of these might have brought this problem on or made it worse!

i no it may seem like a daft suggestion, but you have checked all the boost pipes etc?? I'm not a techie but but if the boost is registering as low, there might be a hole in the pipes somewhere??

also are you taking it to an authorised SEAT dealer??

Thanks, not been to the stealers yet cos my mate works in a local garage, first thing they checked was all the air pipes and he reckons they're all solid but might be worth another check over I think..

im only thinking pipes as the way the turbo work by building pressure and forcing the air into the system, if it cant build enough pressure then it could be something to do with the airflow system (ie pipes or valves) or a fault with the sensor which is what they've said.

the reason i ask about the dealer is that if you report the fault to them they have then got an obligation to solve that fault. So for example if they replace the sensor and that doesnt solve it, they have to take the car back to the drawing board and find the fault and they cannot keep charging you full wack for the other repairs. IE say £160 for the sensor, doesnt fix it, so they replace the turbo (this is just an example :)) £600, strictly speaking they shouldnt be charging you for that £160 as that obviously wasnt the fault, and if they try it, if you complain to SEAT headoffice they'll back you. With my faults they couldnt fix it, but even tho it ran out of warrenty they were still under obligation to carry on repairing it free under the warrenty becuse the fault was reported before the warrenty ended.
