is there a wheel alignment adjustment for the back wheels on the leon fr's

starting to get a bit of wear on the inside of the back tyres. im running the stock 18 inch alloys just curious if theres a fault or if its down to crappy tyres fitted by the previous owner.

has anyone had a four wheel alignment to fix this, if so what was the cost

suggestions appreciated

sounds like your rear wheels are out of alignment or have incorrect camber (wear on the inside indicates excessive negative camber) i don't think the camber is adjustable on the back so it might be indicating that some of your suspension components are damaged or worn. any reputable garage that offers a full 4 wheel alignment will do it for you, expect for pay around £80-£100 on average. i had mine done a few months ago and it cost me £85 for the check and adjustment.

Marty, Derek Campbell's Tyre and Exhaust on Preston farm industrial estate will check your alignment for free. If it needs doing its £20 for 2 wheel or £30 for 4 wheel. I had mine done there and it made a huge difference. Always use Campbell's too, they're a sound company and don't lie to get money out of you...

This is an EPIC thread on 4 wheel alignment on the Mk2 Leon:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=209628&highlight=wheel+alignment

you have to bear in mind that anything can knock your wheel alignment out on a day to day basis:

hitting a pot hole, taking speed humps too fast, mounting a kerb too harshly/hitting kerbs etc etc can knock your settings out & cause the tyres to wear unevenly.

its worth having it checked every 6 months as a matter of course IMHO.

What would you rather pay, £80 - £100 for hunter 4 wheel alignment (if needs adjustment) or £350+ for a pair of decent Pirelli/Michelin/Bridgestone replacement tyres due to premature/uneven wear?

my car ate a new set of Pirelli's on the front within 6 months of buying the car, due to the alignment settings being way out & i'd only done 3000 miles in it.
Cost me £360 for 4 wheel alignment & 2 repacement tyres bridgestone Potenza S001's

totally agree with that! my fronts are wearing evenly, im dead careful not to hit kerbs/speed humps at speed!

the issue i have is the stepped wear on the back tyres, need this lining up correctly before i stick 2 bridgestones on the back! should be made illegal to put crap tyres on a car

The rear can be adjusted quite a lot as on mi 2008 k1 I had to put 3.8 degrees of negative camber it fit mi rear wheels and there was still plenty forces adjustment I have also done world 2000 - 3000 miles on the tyre the are falken 452 and still to a gd bit of life left in the tyres n I used atomic wheels in Milton keyens

Thats exactly what i had with my front tyres:

I had like 1.6mm in the inside edge & 6mm on the otside edge. I had incorrect camber & Toe in, so it was just rubbing away the inside edge [:@]

I had the same problem It's reassuring though to know it's not just me! I agree with AndyG in that in terms of the long run you'll pay for not having in properly alligned! If it's effecting tyres, you don't want it to effect grip on the road. It'll also effect your economy and destroy your tyre's wear! Shop around though, it cost me £120 for the allignement to be done.

Ass far as I know the rear is adjustable!

The rear has camber and toe adjusters but the front only has a toe adjuster. The front camber can be adjusted but you have to shift the sub-frame to do it.
