Should mean less road noise and a softer ride - but there is risk of rubbing. I've read on forums that some Tiguan owners have done this and raved about it. Curious if thats the case for the Terramar too.
 
@Noni51 - Less road noise isn’t necessarily a ‘given’; IMHO it may depend on the brand of tyre. Some brands of tyre are more noisy than others (rubber composition and tread pattern will be factors in noise levels). Additionally, a tradeoff of fitting tyres with a higher sidewall might also make the car’s handling less precise; e.g. more sidewall flexing when cornering.
 
I've had three Tiguans with 255/40r20 Pirelli Scorpions fitted and the right quality was perfectly acceptable 🤷‍♂️
