hi.. has anyone had any problems with their cd changers? mine is in the glovebox ... i drive a 2004 leon cupra 1.8 turbo petrol 20 v ... just bought it and love it !!! what a car ! but the changer keeps throwing up errors and wondered if anyone had any tips ? thanks

Hi, yeah is common with those changers i'm afraid i think its just their age, mine was the same. best thing to do is rip it out m8. most people upgrade the headunits anyway. the speakers are surprisingly ok when coupled with a decent alpine/kenwood unit.

Thanks for that mate ...probably will :( are they easy to replace or is it a mare ?

No m8 fairly easy job if your ok at that sort of stuff, you'll need a star drive bit to remove the glove box. If your removing the changer completely you'll need to order a glovebox filler piece off david at sere about 15 quid i think which will give you a little extra storage space.

I ran my ipod cable from the back of head unit into the glove box and the ipod lives in there now

thanks mate thats a great help :) any ideas about the best tyres to put on it ? to be fair i got it with really good ones .. pirelli p6000 ? on the front and bridgestones on the back :) i got 17 inch 225 tyres ... any suggestions? i love driving this car !!! its cupras all the way now ! lol
:D

No worries, there's plenty on here about tyres, get the best u can afford I just fitted two uniroyal rainsports, not like were due any nice weather lol seem good. although they only on rear, got some falkens on the front they ok but wouldn't get them again

Before you rip it out... get a cotton bud with some alcohol or citrus-based cleaner (I found MrMuscle Orange-action spray works best) and pass it between the white plastic guides on the loading mechanisms side of the cartridge slot.

Literally tens of people on here have done this and said it worked like new afterwards.

nice one mate ... cheers im deffo trying that .. thanks for your reply dude :) :)

That's awesome! If I had mine still I should have tried that first before changing to head unit!

not in a leon but an 8l a3. Does anybody know how to get the standard cd changer linked up to an aftermarket head unit? Or have stereo makers stopped using disc changer capability due to going aux route etc cheers
