6J Facelift FR Bonnet Gas Struts

Hi guys

Just wanted to know if it was possible to fit gas struts to the bonnet of my 2013 facelift fr?
Ive seen a guide for a mk4 but i dont have a clue abouto the mk5 and if ill need custom brackets or something.

Any help is great.

Unless you have really made some changes to the bay, there isn't anything to show off. And for that reason I would say the potential issues caused by gas struts outweigh the benefits. But that is just my opinion.

Give it a go! When doing small maintenance it's a lot easier!

Not been on here a few days. No I havnt done anything at all under the bonnet to be honest but it's more for like Stylance said, maintenance, and it's just a cool small mod. If it can be done easily

I agree, it comes as a shock when your other cars have gas struts on the bonnet. Why did VAG think that is was right to miss this out on their smaller cars, it is not very small city cars we are talking about here?

They haven't, they've missed it out on their cheaper cars, the A1 has them fitted.

I was thinking more about them launching the 9N Polo in early 2002 with gas struts, then launching the 6R or whatever Polo in 201? without gas struts. On a similar vein the 9N Polo with the 1.4 16v engine came with rear discs, the 6R or whatever in 201? appeared with rear drums, but the discs seem to have crept back. I did think that I would need to get my wife an Audi A1 to replace her 2002 Polo if I wanted some of the bits that her previous cars had.

Cheaper.. But is cheap the right word to use lol retail on seats (cars in general) isn't cheap seeing as the technology isn't space age.

Back on topic, measure up your bay I'm sure you will find folds in the metal that are asking for struts, then on google there is a website you can specify the exact size and pressure.
