Hey Guys, a great forum.

Bought myself some exeo alloys, 8jx18 ET42, for use on my bog standard Leon MK2 1.6 TDIcr.

They are without tyres and if offered them up today but was a little bit concerned by the apparent lack of clearance (on the inner).

I think the tyres should be 225/40/17 but before I buy them, do you think they will fit ok?

Yes same wheels, happy enough with the tyre size (long day), but a bit concerned with the offset clearance.

Hi Guys thanks for the info. Not interested in fitting spacers and a little bit confused by some of the other posts regarding wheel fitment. Before I take the plunge and buy these tyres does anyone have a final thought on clearance issues.

Car is on standard springs and won't be lowered at an stage.

18x8 et42 and I was thinking 225 40 18

Thanks:clap:

Should be fine. I was running 225/40/18's on 18 x 8 ET50 rims (which have less inner clearance) on my FR and had no issues. :)

The lower the offset number the closer the wheel will be to the outside. A 42 offset would be more likely to cause rubbing on the wheel arch not the inside.
For example if u had a 50 offset and changed to a 45 it would be 5mm closer to the arch.
