I had this last year, it is the G44 sensor failing. This is often caused by the hub corroding and damaging the sensor. If you replace the sensor it will just break again, as the hub is the cause.

As said before me, new hub time.

i guess that makes sense as when i fitted the sensor and pulled away from the workshop the lights didnt come on then after bout 3-400 meters the warning lights came back on.

guess i will pull the hub at the weekend and have a look

thanks for the advice guys

I had similar after fitting new hub and sensor but sensor (Bosch) failed after 4 months. Sensor replaced. Lasted 9 months. Now realise brake calliper was seized. I am thinking excessive heat could be damaging the sensor.

Could be, but wouldn't you notice a seized caliper sooner though? If it broke after 4 months and then again after 9, would you not then have been driving with seized caliper for 13months?

Sorry - didn't quite explain totally. 1st failure was due to hub. 2nd quick failure could have been caused by sticking pads. It is only at this latest failure that I discovered I now have seized calliper.

hi all

replaced the hub today, when i removed it the rubber ring that the sensor gets it pick up from had totally corroded away, hence the term "sporadic".
new hub fitted and fault has gone .... result !!
the only bad thing is looking at the n/s/r it wont be long before that one requires replacement as well
