AC Not Woking HELP!!

Hi, recently got my fan control unit and the two main fans replaced due to over heating issues on my 53 Cupra R. The garage replaced and fitted all the parts for £500!! Before i sent the car in for repair the AC worked as normal, however since i have had the car back the AC no longer works. I therefore gave the car back to the garage to get it re-gassed and to check for any problems with the AC. The garage got back to me and told me that the AC control unit has gone (climate control thing on the dash) and that the AC pump and clutch are fine. I have now bought a new unit for £100 and fitted it but the problem still exists, hence there was no problem with the control unit in the first place!! Whenever i turn the AC on the fans do not spin at all, even when idiling. I have told the garage this but he reassures me that the fans have got nothing to do with the AC  ! So i was wondering if any of you guys can help me as this is really starting to get expenisve!!

Garage is wrong, the fan control unit is there just to make the fans run at a lower speed when the air cooling compressor is switched on, by pushing the "snowflake" button.

Cars without air conditioning don't have a fan control unit, the thermoswitch in the radiator switches the fans on and off directly.

IF they replaced the fan control unit they have not wired it up correctly, or the unit is faulty, or the fans are faulty.

What he said mate both fans should spin at slow speed when the snowflake button is pushed in.

my fans appear to come on pretty quick with the snowflake button pressed
i get no cold but theres plenty of pressure so figure it neeeds a regas

dont think the speed of the fans would affect it would it?

i was putting off the regas as i figured i didnt want to know there was a hole in my aircon rad but turns out after pressing a key into the valve its fine, now gotta get it done cheap as poss

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I assume the AC can still work even if the fans aren't working?

Have a check of the fuses on top of the battery, they have a part in the fan circuit. I removed one and the fans didn't spin at all. worth having a check.

Problem has been fixed :D

Took the car back to the garage and and told him what people on this forum have said about the problem, and how i think the problem lies in fitting the fan control unit or the fans themselves incorrectly. He agreed to look at the car and fix it for free. Couple of hours later the garage told me that the AC has now been fixed and that all they had to do was clean the terminals on the climate control unit

Personally i don't believe that and simply think the guy doesn't want to admit he fixed something wrong and made me pay for a new climate unit for no reason!! So i now have a climate unit to sell if anyone wants one ;)

I would prefer to make my money back so £100 + what ever the postage costs are. Cash on collection is also welcome.
