Before I commit Id like to hear peoples experiences, so Ive posted on a few forums (is this the right forum to ask this, or do the mk3 turbo owners
buy more of these products?)
I know there's a few people on here with TBd engines, whats the prices/equipment and use like?
I have options such as DTA(£850), OMEX 500/550(£519) and MoTeC(bit expensive
but a good reputation), Autronic which Ive not heard much of and looks expensive

OK, its a polo 6n, but its close to an ibiza, Im just finding it hard to decide which ECU to use to run my 1.7 16v with individual TBs and engine speed
sensor/coilpacks setup.
Im after a budget choice, so Ive been fancying the Emerald ecu for the past year
on the basis that its quite cheap other than DIY options(dont want too many
headaches) and that Dave Walker is viewed as quite talented.

any sugestions would be great

TIA

ASk the person who's mapping it whether they're familiar with the software, otherwise you might buy the wrong one.

megasquirt is about as cheap and adaptable as they come BUT you'll get a serious headache learning it all first - not for the faint hearted

mind you they now do a pre built option for a small cost extra

but seriously - you'll need a lot of research and reading first - just check out the manual :)

thanks Mork, just checking some local places at the mo

Thanks Bill, thought you'd post here aswel as on Cgti, lol
Do you know of any decent DTA mappers in the WA5 post code area?
Have been told of one in Knutsford so far, cheers for any info

Fl@pper, would like to use a megasquirt system in the future, but to
limit headaches and problem searching Id like to pay that bit more this 1st time
cheers

you have allan warburton himself.. in manchester
mike forder in manc also used to do it... (not spoken to him for a long time now tho)

mikeanics nr Congleton/Macclesfield is who RobT uses and his mapping is absolutely superb. (lumenition dealer)

I have just acquired a chip for my cupra 16V but I've no idea how to fit it - anyone know?? It is basically just an IC and I haven't a clue where it goes.
I thought it would be a cheap option to boost the 16V power by 10% but it looks like I may have to try a specialist like Stealth to get it fitted??

I have a 16V ibiza with TB's and Lumenition 451 ECU - Mike Gillman at Mikeanics in Congleton is very good at mapping, use him all the time - he does do other ECU's as well as Lumenition but this is his favoured setup - actually was telling me last week about a couple of megasquirts he had had in - was suprised they didn't fall apart was his comment, not very durable, still I guess you get what you do (and dont in this case) pay for.

It's all about how you make it though. If you've never used a soldering iron before, it's no suprise - but one that's made by a person with a brain is just as good as any other.

Same reason that you don't get 5yr olds with plastic tools to build engines.
