Air con

Just a quickie.... my 98 bammer 1.9tdi air con is playing up, well not working.. when i switch it on there is no dip in revs and no cold air..is it just needs a bit of regassing or is it a pump..thanks

could be re-gas, could be compressor, could be burst pipe,probably be expensive. best trying to get it regassed to check for leaks first then take it from there. Does it have climate control and does the display flash when you turn ignition on? that would indicate a fault in the system. Hope its just a re-gas for you

No it doen not have climate control, i have booked it in to a garage on monday, they said they stick a dye in it to check for leaks and pressure test it or something. lets wait and see... your guesses please ..

there is a metal pipe that runs from around the reciever/dryer up to the bulkhead somewhere, it is prone to corroding at one spot where it clips underneath the engine. new pipe is around £100 from dealers. ford was cheapest for me at around £60 if i remember. you can get it repaired but its a specialist job(some sort of compression join).

If the compressor's gone, its around £350 just to buy it.
It might just be a re-gas but if not i would just open the windows lol cos i ended up spending £800 getting mine fixed around 5 years ago.
