Air Conditioning Pump Not Kicking In

My Seat Ibiza 2010 2.0 TDI FR's air conditioning isn't working.

The gas was removed from the air con system because I had to replace the water radiator.

I run a VAGCOM check, after putting the system back together but before the system was re-gassed, and got the following two error codes:
- 00229 Refrigerant pressure
- 00819 High pressure sensor -G65-

I then had the system re-gassed and it's holding pressure okay.

I cleared the fault codes and upon running additional VAGCOM checks the fault codes have not returned.

However, when turning on the air con it still doesn't work!

Several points to note:

- I was expecting the '00229 Refrigerant pressure' error code to appear when there was no gas in the system but I was not expecting the '00819 High pressure sensor -G65-' error code. Does this mean there was / is a fault with the high pressure sensor? ..or would this fault code be expected given there was no gas in the system at the time?

- When turning on the air con when the engine is idling the engines revs do not increase by a couple of hundred rpm (which happens with every other car I have owned) so I suspect the system is receiving some sort of fault / error message from somewhere which then prevents the system even attempting to turn the air conditioning on. However, if there are no fault codes currently showing up on VAGCOM then where might the fault / error message be coming from?

- If all the systems were fine then I would expect the system to send a signal to the air con pump to engage and for the engine revs to simultaneously rise by a couple of hundred rpm from idle. If the pump then fails to engage then the fault is generally with the pump but as this is not the scenario in this case I suspect the problem lies in a fault with one of the sensors - perhaps the 'High pressure sensor -G65-' sensor?

- Needles to say the air con pump is not kicking in and hence the air con is not working.

Any thoughts anyone?

sounds like the aircon sensor, mine did the same as you described wasn't firing up when pressing the switch, car was only a week old when mine went, dealer replaced air-con pressure sensor, re gassed and been fine ever since

did it work before ? you may have disturbed the electrical connector to the comp' note it is likely it does not kick in but loads up as I guess you have a constantly running variable volume unit so after the electric is the pump shaft actually turning not a daft as it sounds there have been cases of the bolt coming loose also the pulley has a built in safety should the pump seize solid check these next
