Airbag light - dealer or local garage?

Can't tell you what to do as it is an airbag system and that would be very irresponsible of me. All I can say is my Leon no longer has connectors to worry about

I wouldn't take it as a suggestion, more curiosity - battery off and soldered the wires to connectors or am I miles off?

Well while i had my battery off for at least 10 minutes, I noticed that at either side of the connectors were the same coloured wires and worked out that all the connector is there for is incase the seat needed removing. As I did not plan on removing my seat anytime soon i decided i no longer needed the connector. On mine i used some Special crimp connectors with heatshrink around them as Solder can cause resistance and there are also some how can I say '
' who's soldering is not the best!?! Obviously I am telling you a story about my car and this is in noway intended for you to copy. I am also a Seat trained technician so i obviously did not attempt this with no training.

I had the same problem with mine. Was a fault with the wiring under the drivers seat. A known fault apparently. Cost me £180 at a Seat dealer to get repaired!!
I cleared by mates airbag light on his Touran - seemed to come back on when the driver seat was moved knocking the airbag connection. So vcds can reset it but if there is a fault it will only come back on - VCDS will also tell you which airbag it is - driver, passenger, seat etc - well it did for me on his.
So if the problems been fixed but the light is just on - easy peasy to reset.

Ted Johnson? Or what used to be Ted Johnson? No disrespect if it is them, but I wouldn't use them again. Gilder in Sheffield are a better bet. Wills & Ellis in York are petty good also and closer.
I don't use dealers anymore for anything mechanical. I'd be more inclined for something electrical if anything, but independent trustworthy garages are my choice.

The airbag light will NOT go out unless the fault is cleared with VCDS/VAS tool.
Same here I had it on after a few weeks owning my car and tried VAGCOM and its still on. Came up as the Passenger Side Seat Airbag Ignitor.
I read up a solution where the connector has to be cut off and the wires soldered together and then use VAGCOM to get rid of it. But have not had the time to get round to do it. Personally i think it should be a free dealer fix as it just came on for no reason

Thats the reason why Iv got to get mine sorted with all these changes. But MOT not till next summer which gives me enough time
