I noticed at the weekend whilst doing a service on my LC, that the alternator belt was looking in poor shape. Is it easy to change? I don't have a haynes manual at the minute so not sure what the process is. I'm guessing that the alternator moves and is the tensioner for the belt but not sure.
Very easy. There's a separate tensioner. You just need an open-ended spanner to lever the tensioner and a small allen key to lock the tensioner untensioned.
cool, looked like it might have been a bitch as there isn't much space. I'll get one at the weekend and get it fitted. Is it easier from above or below?
Bit of both really, just to make sure its seated properly on the lower pulley. Then its just a case of guiding it into place, remove that wee allen key and carefully let the tensioner take up the slack on the belt.
