Alternator clutch pulley or tensioner

Hi.

I have a squeak coming from either the tensioner or alternator on my 2004 1.9tdi 150 Toledo. Squeaks on tick over and at low revs up to about 1500-1800 when driving.

Was wondering which it would be and how difficult a job it is? Can the alternator clutch be done on the car or do I need to take it off. Or should I leave that and try the tensioner first.

Any help appreciated.

could be the tensioner but i would suspect the pulley
release belt and see if the pulley freewheels one way
you can do them in situ if you have the tool to unbolt the pulley

On closer inspection it's the pulley so will try to get parts and do it in situ.
