Amp RCD510 or upgrade to Kenwood double din?

I've been toying with idea of amping my rcd 510 as I like all the various inputs. Just it's lacking in sound quality. I've changed the speakers which has improved things and put silent coat in the doors.
Not sure if it's worth amping or just upgrading to the new kenwood DDX4025DAB
Also does anyone know who could instal an amp in the newcastle area? Had a recent bad experience with autosounds so avoiding them.

I want to amp the RCD too but don't know whether it would be worth or if it is even has the connections to do so?

The Kenwoods are really good I just can't justify spending £300-£400 when Summer is coming up and I'm going to shagamuff, I like OEM anyway..

I have seen a guy on here that amped the 510 but I cannot find it for the life of me...

But it depends what sort of sound you are after...

I think they are straight forward to amp from the speaker wires you don't need pre outs. I'm not 100% sure In difference in sound quality though.
Yeah I'd like to keep it oem just want a bit more musical fidelity. I was spoilt having reference pioneer head unit and separate dab box in my mkiv golf. Just didn't look right in the leon though.

Just go for an upgrade. Aren't the standard units 4x25 or some crap like that? Terrible.

I've just fitted my 510 chinese version. 4x50, bluetooth, gps, ipod, mp3, dvd etc etc. Will do a review soon

I got one of the RCD510 Chinese versions from the bay and mine is still 4x25... well actually it's the RCD510+ lol + what I don't know...

Sound is ok for me though

lol oh dear - well mine is supposed to be 4x50, i'll have to open it up and check that out !

Even the kenwood ones probably aren't a real 50 watts. I like being able to use sd cards, having a multi changer,DAB and a aux socket. Especially useful on long trips with a family. Just the sound quality sucks lol.
Have you compared the sound quality of the Chinese units over the factory rcd 510?

I'd go kenwood personally, think they look much better. I've got and older model dnx520vbt and cn't fault it. Good sound quality, although i do have uprated speakers two amps and a subwoofer!!!

I'd get one if those but I really want DAB just for radio 6 lol. And I can't justify £800 for the newer one.

Silent coat in the doors helps bass loads. I've practically wrapped the inside of the car with the stuff to help soundproof it . And to be honest it hasn't made much difference lol!
