Try clearing the cache memory of the Android Auto app on your phone every 2-3 days may help. This would help clearing the memory mismatch in the app which has stopped it working.

Just another Android issue when Google trying to make the app working with all the different vehicle manufacturers and phone brands.
Thanks, have cleared Android Auto cache, which on Android Version 16 is in Storage, and changed wifi connection to primary router from the mesh system (primary router has much shorter range than Mesh), will see if this prevents it happening again. I think the boot is on the wrong foot at the moment, Google should be doing what Apple does by leading instead of reacting.
