Angel tuning

Paul came to my home to map my leon (1.9tdi 105hp). I work shifts so he suggested coming in the evening after I got home. He had been to Aberdeen that day so it was quite a journey to mine in Saltcoats, but then i'm only just 15 minutes along the road from Troon. Although i've not had it on a rolling road, the car is definitely more powerful and fuel economy is the same if not better. Not really been able to use the car much recently due to the ABS controller failing (fixed now!!) So my car has went from (on paper) 105hp - 150hp and the torque has increased form 250nm - 335nm. Paul definitely knew what he was doing, I went to Angel through recommendation from friends. Also, i've had no problems with the map (touchwood) but if I do, I can get it returned to normal. All in all, the best £200 i've spent on the car...

My mate is going for a remap there at the end of this month for his Mk5 Golf GTi - He's to log before and after and if he's uhappy they'll reflash with the original map and give him a full refund. We're quite local so that's fine... can see it being a dif story if you had to travel further.

We were going to get 50% off the second car if we put the two cars in together, but I think I'm going to hold off for a custom map.

I thought I'd update this thread...

My mate was on the rollers today - Ran 261bhp on his Mk5 Golf GTi! Very impressive! The fuelling was spot on and the delivery going by the graph was perfect.

His spec from memory is carbonio intake, scorpion cat-back and panel filter. For a basic stage 1 remap I wouldn't go past angel tbh!

That's cracking figures mate! When he gave me a shot in it it was going like stink!
My bro was at the same rollers today with his st:) Did you go yourself?

Fiesta ST or Focus?

Yeah, well me and my mate knew a few of the other boys that were going (though only one ran his car - Ed30 Golf which made 350bhp)

I only decided to go last minute. Ran mine, totally standard made 220bhp (it's an AMK 210) so quite happy. The guy said it was running a bit lean, but I remember the last time we went up to Dastek every single Seat was told they were running lean? Including my Ibiza Cupra, so not overly concerned. Don't know if it's the way they were reading it with the lambda up the exhaust?

I got my FR done by Paul yesterday and I'm very pleased with the results. For the money it's cracking and I've even noticed that the fuel consumption is better aswell as having the extra power. I travelled through to Troon to have it done because it worked out easier and it gave me a chance to see the difference on the way home.
I went on reccomendations from friends who have used him for years so that was good enough for me. He's a genuine top bloke aswell.

It was a fiesta st mate. Ah he mentioned your car :) You musta been pretty happy about the standard results

Yeah. Give's me a baseline to work from. Just wanted to know that it wasn't down on power.

Was kinda embarrased putting my lowly non-modified Leon on, think it was about the lowest powered car there (apart from the Fiestas). I've only ever put my car's on when they've had something done before.

No you're completly right mate, that would be me and my preggers missus, I remember seeing the Focus, didn't it have polished ST wheels on it?

Aye spot on mate, he hadto get his mass airflow meter replaced and then the map had to be adjusted by Paul. How you enjoying your map?I had the angel map on my seat leon fr before i went stage 2. Great compared to standard ;)

Yeah I'm really liking it but my wife drives the car most of the time so I don't get to drive it that often. Before the map I always thought that a it could do with a bit better acceleration in 5th and 6th, now it's got that which is great. The cheap tyres are really sruggling now though but I've got some new wheels so some decent rubber is getting fitted. I thought about the ditching my dpf but I don't really want to be replacing my clutch just now but if I have dpf problems then it's gone.

Hi Folks,

Was looking at Angel tuning, I sent them an email for a potential Aberdeen visit and Paul got back to be straight away with a price of £275 inc vat and travel to Aberdeen.

What do you guys think of the filter option... does it make any difference?

I've read a few things online that they dont, and a few things that they do - no idea who to believe!

Also, does anybody know a dyno in Aberdeen who could do a before & after so i can see if its worth it?

I had a problem with my map but i contacted Paul and took it over to him and he sorted it no problem with the help of a rolling road so i got mine rr'd for free. The end results were 218bhp and 312lbft of torque. It turns out it was making 186bhp as standard. Very happy with that and the car drives so much better now with plenty of power. Now all i need is the chance to compare it to gti's, st's and v-tech's etc!

I would definatly recommend a rr session to see before and after results and to make sure your car is running how it should.

Wallace Performance have a rolling road.

For what its worth, Custom Code are in Aberdeen and they have reasonable DPF maps it seems, and Revo and Wallace Performance are in talks together so that Wallace may take on the Revo dealership left by Checkpoint when it closed recently.

Personally, I would not trust a mobile tuner, especially with a DPF car. Stick with something tried, tested and with minimal negative reviews.

Do you know who's map Wallace Performance uses? They told me the curve would be similar to the superchips map, and said their map gives a peak gain of 27BHP & 57ft.lbs.

I contacted them for pricing, which came back as £400 inc vat, extra if i want before & after on the rolling road.

I didn't know anybody done custom code in Aberdeen - i see motorwerks do it but on their website if i pick seat, they only offer for Petrol engines.

Custom code's website is showing a 30% offer, taking it to £370inc VAT.

I emailed Revo at the start of the week, the did say they were investigating other outlets in Aberdeen.
