Another free samples idea.

Would you pay very low costs for a sample if the money was for charity?

Evening all,

This is already done on DW and I like the idea of it.

Some of you will be aware of the recent sample run we have done for a Car Wash Shampoo.

What I was wondering was would this get the same response if this service involved cash.

Don't hit the back button yet...

We are just trying to get an idea. If it wouldn't get the correct amount of interest then it would be scrapped and back to the way the recent one was run.

When we say cash it would not be a profit nor would it be to recover the costs. It would be for a charity.

We are suggesting splitting the cost of the product per amount of samples we would get out of the chosen product bottle. This would be based on the cost we pay for the product and not RRP's. We would then take the exact shipping cost into consideration also and then you would pay that amount for the sample but ALL your money would go to a charity.

i.e. the recent run cost say £4.00 per bottle and was getting 10 samples per bottle making each sample worth 40p. If the postage cost 52p then that would make each sample 92p and all of which would go to a charity.

Our donation would be the products themselves which in turn make the cash.

We could set an aim like £500 and have a vote on the chosen charity if this was to go ahead.

So,

Another poll then. I'm going to leave this open for a week to get an idea. Please vote honestly. Don't say yes today and no tomorrow. The last thing we want is enough people saying yes that we decide to run with this then only make 92p for a charity.

Get voting.

Lee.

To be honest selling samples of a product full stop is great, I've always wanted to try different shampoos, polishes etc things but to fork out between £10 and £30 for something you might not like puts me off trying other things!

I'd gladly pay £1

Great idea.. as said above i look to use new products but you always get mixed reviews half the time. And not about paying £30 or something for it to be rubbish. So for a quid you cant go wrong.

Excellent idea and would hopefully encourage the people who are actually likely to buy something from you and want to try before you buy, rather than a lot of people in the recent poll whom I suspect have no intention of buying and are just wanting something free

Good marketing and charity idea, I'm game for that.

B&Q charge a few quid for their tipp-ex size bottles of paint testers / samples... while cheaper and less wasteful than buying 2 litres of something that looks nice in the tin but crap once dried on the walls...

So yeah, excellent idea! :D I'd rather pay a couple of £££ for a sample and find I don't get on with it, than waste full price on a big bottle / pot of something I don't like / not going to use.

The idea of this money going to a good cause is excellent :)

Also, as already mentioned, how about making up some different "trial size" mini valet packs like the Autoglym ones you see in Halfords at Christmas time. Obviously smaller though, just enough of each product to do one car... I'd buy some - obviously once I found one I like, I'd come back to buy the 'proper' size versions :)

brilliant idea to me - well worth a few quid as it enables you to see if something is good - or more likely suits for car....
