Another leak

Hi all a newbie member and I have to say what an excellent site!
I have recently bought a 2005 reg seat ibiza 1.4 tdi 3 door model and Iam very pleased apart from a water leak. I've done the searches to death and not come up with anything concrete.
The leak is coming from the drivers side door into the passenger footwell. Everywhere else is bone dry. I've removed the interior plastic trim and taken the carpet up together with the sound proof matting.
I've put a hosepipe on the door and tested to see if the door card issue is there by hosing down the side of the glass but bone dry all underneath the plastic card. The water is entering underneath the rubber seal that fits all around the car body and is then running into the footwell. I've checked the drain holes in the rubber and they are clear. The water is pooling on the sill and also on the top of the door rubber that can be seen when you open the door and look on the very top edge. I suspect the water is running down the door rubber and getting behind somehow then as clear as day can be seen running underneath the door rubber, viewing from the inside of the car, then pooling in the passenger rear footwell. When it rains hard there is a lot of water there in a very short space of time. I did think the door may be out of alignment but there does not appear to be any gaps and shuts nice and flush? The water is entering under the rubber 2" to 3" from the corner radius. I thank anyone who can offer sound advice before I bite the bullet and start either paying the main dealer or purchasing a new door rubber when this may not be necessary.

Personally I would place a large bin bag over the whole door with it open, then shut it which should completely seal it off. If you still get the leak then it will be from somewhere else?

had this on passenger and drivers side and had both seals replaced. not had any leaks there after. but i do now need to replace the crash sensor because of the water ingress.

Aha I like the idea, I will probably give this a try at zero cost, it does make good sense , thanks for your reply.

Cheers Davie I could well be heading down the road of replacing the rubber door seal.

Davie, can you remember how much a door seal cost to replace?

No way that's unlucky mate!
Just an update before the bin bag trick I decided to remove some of the door aperture rubber and then replaced pushing down firmly on the top bit that sits on car body swage. No more leaks I've tried the hosepipe despite the heavy downpours tonight and happy days:D Will not put the underlay or carpet back for a couple of weeks but here's hoping! Thanks for the replies fellas.
