Hi guys, so before the flaming begins i have searched this and other forums to get information on this problem but just need a few bits information!

When i bought the car a couple of weeks ago (2001 cupra 180 AUQ) it had a noticable leak at the rocker cover breather (y shaped pipe) so i replaced this with an uprated silicone item. Then cleaned the throttle body and did a TBA with VAG COM to sort out the rough idle (which worked) and have recently bought the forge PCV breather pipes (audi tt items from AWESOME), new suction jet pump, one way valve in PCV t piece and silscone lower breather pipe. Ill be fittings these tomorrow!!

The symptoms are the car sometimes doesnt boost until restarted and when it does it gets to 2750 - 3100 rpm it seems to hit a bit off a wall when it is boosting. The car is supposedly remapped to 220 ish and it does feel strong when you clear the codes with VAG COM (pressure drop between tubo and throttle valve and fuel too rich bank 1) until the codes reappear shorlty. What do you guys think?

Would this sound about right for the symptoms as a cure??

Good!! i Thought id cracked it with the broken dipstick tube i found the other day but after it didnt go away with the new tube i cleaned all the crud off the pcv pipes to see if any oil returned and sure enough codes are back and fresh cruddy oil patches on the pipes!!
Ill also be doing the oil change tomorrow as its so black its unbelievable and it aslo has a horrible fram oil filter on it! Hopefully this will sort it out or ill be searching for boost leaks again!!
Also does nobody do an uprated dipstick tube out of metal? If not i might have to try and fabricate something!

iv just had mine mapped and av got the same problem, limp mode and boosting mad. have you uprated the dv? iv got the green spring in mine which is passing on full boost causing limp mode, that along with the knackered breather (exactly the same pipe as you)!

The standard dv was a bosch 710n which i changed for a genuine brand new 710n i had (younger brother had a tt 225 so igot a few new parts he bought free!) Although i havent had the PCV pipes out yet i got my hand in and felt a split on the s shaped pipe that comes out of the top of the t piece with the one way valve in it so when i change that ill know better whats happening.
I'm also thinking of putting a one way valve to the inlet manifold as a back up but a metal one i found in the stores at work.

your standard bosch may not be strong enough to hold the boost properly, depends what map its had! iv got an uprated forge 007p and that standard cant hold the boost off my map, thats why iv gotta use the yellow spring as its stronger, wont pass, and wont look like a boost leak to the ecu and will stop chucking limp in, at least i hope. my pcv beather pipe has completely snapped, but iv bodged it with some hose for now, my spring should be here tommorow so if i put that in and the car is sorted i would say you need to uprate the dv along with sorting your leaks

also mate does your car boost dead strong for maybe 2k revs then seem to get less powerful?

well its definatly on the to do list along with silicone boost hoses and tip. The car has been another one off the 'remap on standard parts and hope its ok' cars by the previous owner and i think thats the reason he sold it to the garage i bought it from. But i noticed the problems and paid £1700. Has 98% SEAT service history and last 2% specialist, needed tyres all round (standard rims) but generally good condition so i dont mind spending a few quid getting it sorted.

On the off chance anyone has heard off them or know what map they use it was remapped at a place called BK tuning performance in lancashire?

iv never heard of them like, but theres any amounts of people mapping these days, some write there own, some buy them! most good mappers will recommend uprating the dv with a map, its something i did straight away as the standard ones are **** in any case, although i know someone with a prog mapped s3 and the standard is working fine! i would get your leaks sorted and see if that cures it, but in anycase put some money aside for the 007/yellow spring upgrade as it will prob be that, if not its a worthwhile upgrade anyway as youl feel the difference on boost alone

well i go on holiday in two weeks so got keep my money in the bank until after that!! but im thinking of going to RS Tuning in leeds as there 5 mins down the road from me one its sorted to see whats really going on and take it from there.
Im not really bothered about BHP so much as smoothness so if its crap then maybe a good map but like you say ill get it to a good condition mechanically before i take that step. Ill post the results tomorrow once its all done so fingers crossed

exactly what i did mate, mine ran like a bag when i got it, missing, boosting jurky, sounded rough, the 2 major things that sorted it was a major service, new oil, filter, plugs, the air intake etc and changing the fuel to super, mine ran horrible on 95!! drove lovely after that, dead smooth, no misses etc! iv spent nearly £1500 getting it in a state where i was comfortable to get it mapped without anything major going wrong! see your bonnet, get used to seeing the inside of it with these cars mate lol

Ive only put vpower in it since i got it nayway so i dont know what its like on 95 but iknow what you mean. To be honest id be seeing the inside of the bonnet alot even if it was running fine because i used to be a mechanic by trade and i need to be doing something all the time!!
Whatever i can improve or redesign and upgraded i will!!
I just cant help myself!!

ha ha best way matey, im looking at the 249 bypass next, tidies it up a bit and by all accounts it useless anyway. il whack that yellow spring in when it comes and if i get any change i will let you know, that we you can assume yours is the same as were having the same probs :D

Ok mate, hope it works out for you with the yellow spring and hope to speak again on here soon. Ill post results tomorrow after i change the PCV set up anyway
