Anti-corrosion warranty

I remeber someone having a crack at seat due to some rust (Cupratgirl?)

Ive noticed that the areas behind both door catches are starting to rust, along with a small bubble on the boot lid between the glass and metalwork, and between the drivers mirror mount and door.

Its 5 1/2 years old, whats the warranty and what does it cover?

Hi Mate
IIRC it is a 10 year corrosion warranty
You will need to take it to a dealer to get them to check it out for you.
If there is a sign of contact like stone chips , then it will not be covered under warranty , but still worth getting it checked out.
It is perforation so it is inside out.
Each claim is individual but needs to be looked at by a dealer.
They may need a paint guy to come out to see it , that is how they did it at the Skoda dealers I worked at.
Good luck mate , let us know how you get on.

Yeah, it needs to rust from the inside out.

I've got a couple of patches that need looking at it.

BTW it's 6 years according to my service book.

Yeah thats right! I went there a couple of months ago and had an Inspector out to look at the bit that i have on my boot between the glass and metalwork! I told them that i know of people that have had the same as the water sits in the seals and causes it to rust! I also said these people i know have had it resprayed under a corrosion Warranty

I was told that my boot had been resprayed before as there is two tiny flat spots on it (i have no proof that is hasnt been so couldnt really argue although i think its just dodgy SEAT paint)

They were not that helpful and would not budge after saying it had already been resprayed! I ended getting a quote for £399 to do the job :-o

Can you prove yours hasnt been resprayed before? You may be in luck if you can

IIRC its a six year Corrosion Warranty from when i went! It should say in your Manual

Of course I cant prove it hasn't, in my eyes its upto them to prove I have.

I didnt know if you got the car from new?

You may be lucky, i think there is someone on here that got it done under Warranty but whenever they can they will get out of doing it

It may be worth getting it booked in whilst the Warranty is still in place

Keep the pressure on them.I've had 2 claims in with the dealer & both times an assessor came out to measure the paint thickness, this proves whether a respray has taken place.Insist on SEAT UK becoming involved,I did & was succesful both times.

That's exactly what mine has got, might have to get that checked out ASAP as the warranty will run out in January if it's 6 years!

As far as I am aware it hasn't had a respray before! Shame my nearest dealer is in Wimbledon and a compelte pain in the ass to get to!!!

Also around both rear wheel arches, one side is quite bad just having has a look at it!

It was me!!!! I had a go at SEAT about my rusty boot and they were more than helpful.

Booked it in to be inspected - signed a form and a week later they had it for two days fitted a brand new boot and seals and resprayed the lot.

Have heard differing opinions of how helpful they can be but they did the job.

Hi mate,

which dealer did this?

I'll try and post some pics up later of it! It's quite bad around one of the arches!
