Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 1.8t Sport and am unsure if it's previously been remapped or not. For 180hp it seems very fast, but then again I've never driven such a high powered car so haven't really got experience to compare it with.

So besides testing on a dyno, can anyone offer an idea or two on how to tell if the car has been remapped? As I am hoping to get the car remapped in the future but if it's already been done then it would just be a waste of monies.

Much appreciated

:p

just had my car mapped today and thought my car was fast at first but my gos theres such a difference now u have to actually hold the steering wheel when u give it a footfull lol easy way is buy a boost guage just dont break your glovebox like i did lol should be boosting between about 7 and 10 remapped obviously is higher that may be a easy way to tell halfords do 1 autoguage £24.99

Hmm good idea, was planning to get a boost gauge so this would make it even more worthwhile!

Thing is the MAF plugged has been removed as the car idles irratically with it in so if it runs this good now then god knows how much it will improve with a new maf!

yeah i think people on here say unplug ur maff to go down the road if the cars playing up to see if it sorts it out so u no if it is ur maff playing up but wouldnt advise to drive it mate only from what i have read but thats the only thing i can suggest is to fit a boost guage as standard cars are meant to run about 7 or 8 psi if it up to 14 or something it may have had something done also if ur anywhere near me in kent or essex amd are extremely good great service and great help

Unfortunately mate I'm located in the West Midlands near Wales lol

But yeah what I'll do is get a boost gauge and probably a voltmeter gauge for when I install a new sound system then see what boost I get to make sure before I go for the remap

Thanks dude

also try see if any garages near you do a trial map or anything oh and dont use halfords crappy ripspeed hose its too big i jus had to to try mine out i need to change it asap but go to a reputable tuner in ur area as i went to a garage near me and got sold a induction kit for £150 and werent no good for my car when i got it mapped so instead of just costing me 399.99 it cost me 549.99 lol for a new induction kit aswell but if u want a loud induction roar and very loud dv sound get the induction kit that is open cone and sits right down behind your bumper as thats what i had fitted yesterday and my car feels like a totally different car i left them with 2 hours before hope some of these little things help and its ashame ur not down this way lol

my car was smooth and didnt really push u back in the seat at all realy after a while but now u really feel it pull and does push u back in your seat not immensely but enough and you have to hold onto the steering wheel as well since my remap and new induction kit anyway im absolutely in love with my car now such a difference
