Just wondering really, if anyone fancies a change from they're FWD forced induction 'family style' LCR to a E36 M3 Evo....... A previous thread from September last year caught my eye where 3-4 members wanted an ///M instead.

When I was on golfgti.co.uk I waited and waited for a similar thread to come up when i wanted an M3 in exchange for the Golf but never did. The benefits of RWD over FWD are well known, as are N/A over F/I. The only problem is my Mrs needs a family car and although the coupe is big enough, she cant get insured on it. So, if anyone fancies a change or has any reasons why or why not to go for a LCR as a family car for a newborn, please comment below.

Cheers Harry

Z4M's are about 14K........ Id be looking towards a mint mk5 R32 if I had a disposable income...... Haha

Not an ///M car though sadly...... Dunno about you but I feel cheated if its not the 'top model' of its range. It has to be the M or R or RS or special edition etc etc of the range for me to lust after it or I always want more.......

I know what you mean I am majorly lusting a 225 lcr! Insurance is only £700 and I am seriously considering selling the fr tdi for a bit more power, mapping her on Wednesday so we will see how I get on with 200 horses

Its all about the torque with the derv. Im really not a diesel man aside from my Vivaro. I like to rev. Get an LCR instead!!! Or just any petrol to make you remember what 6- potentially 9k is all about :) if i was allowed another, id definately get an Integra over any other FWD car

I was under the assumption that the Cupra R was still the top model that they do not offer in a coal burning version....... Maybe Im wrong

Its gonna be a dark day when ive gotta buy 'all smoke & no poke' as my main car just to save 10 mpg....... Think id retrain in a different career before chucking in the petrol towel. Makes your hands stink too with the filthy dirt pump

I had a 323bhp diesel mk4 golf that would certainly muller a sluggish lcr

:)

You should have a go in a quick diesel. Take a bit of beating :)

Well done! I currently have a 328 bhp M3 and used to have a 380bhp 300ZX TT that'd rape them both........ Because....... No matter how fast you make a mk4 Golf or any other deriative, its still gonna handle like a shopping trolley! What a waste of money that must have been to create that! And how do you put said '323 bhp' down through FWD with Diesel torque? My 236 bhp 1.8T was vile at putting it down below 3rd gear although had standard diff

Ah, quick diesels. I was very underwealmed by a mapped 335i i had the misfortune of being in and they're supposed to be 'quick'

Bought the car like that

No need to get touchy now...

Linear throttle mapping
Quaiffe LSD
Helix clutch and Flywheel
All uprated engine mounts

Wasn't too bad actually. Was good fun for what it was and certainly shocked a few people
Was just saying its not a case of always all smoke and no poke

Im not getting touchy mate I just thought 'we have a biter' but it appears not....... Lol. Ill stop now, aside from this banter I genuinely do dislike diesel outside of the van world as the torque is necessary for carrying gear around. I dislike the noise the most but each to their own. If you like it, carry on, thousands agree with you, that Diesel are as good as petrol....... Would your next car be on the darkside too?

I have had my fair share of both but always come back to diesel

I actually sold a 1.8t octy vrs at 210bhp for my 150tdi leon. So very similar power to a 210bhp stock lcr
All depends on what you prefer, i like fuel economy as i do a rake of miles. Octy averaged 28/29 tdi's averaging 48/49

Tax is half and so is insurance
Obviously i had more fun in my octy than i do now and it does sound nicer but the cash saving im making is nice
Hoping i'll be satisfied with a map to 200 :)
