Looking for the best way to route the wiring. Plugging it in isn’t the issue, but when I had a look at sorting this yesterday, all of the stuff in the boot looks really well stuck.

I’m sure I’m missing something obvious, just need pointing in the right direction.

TIA.

Yep - fairly easy - the rear trim of the boot detaches quite easy so you can run the wire across the rear panel and tape it too it.

Ive also done it, bit tricky but not too bad. I ran cable down and under the trim between spare wheel and back of the car, which prises up. Ypu will need to empty the boot including the polystyrene blocks which lift out once you have lower back seat. The hardest part removing the blank panel, took some hard leverng! Used cable rods to feed cable from current light down and sideways and used a rod to feed cable up to the new hole. Was much easier than removing side trim panel.
East Yorkshire were quick and helpful with response. They did say most people ran cable up but I had already committed to down at that point.
There are service manuals on here somewhere which helped.
Good luck

Great advice. Having only one light in the boot over the winter months drove me insane. I looked at the various 2nd led kits. If I know this one works, then I'll push the button and order one.

Any tips or pictures to help the fitting would be appreciated.

I'll have a go at describing how I did it. I have a vz2 so I have a spare wheel.
Remove parcel shelf
Remove boot floor
Tilt forward the back seats
Lift out the foam blocks from under boot floor, they do come out as 1 piece, lift up the part furthest away from you and slide it all away from you then lift.
Remove current light, easily.pulls.out.
Attach new cable to old light and old cable to new cable, dont push it in the hole yet.
Remove the cross trim (5 in the below image) the cross trim needs to be prised up, slide a trim tool under the trim at the boot rubber and prise it straight up, work your way along the trim prising as you go, be careful this has a cable attached but there's enough slack to put it to one side.
The carpet on the sides of the boot can now be lifted a little.
I used a cable rod from the back of the boot under the side carpet up to the hole where the standard light is, attached new cable to it and pulled it out.
Run the new cable under the cross.trim, taping it to the boot floor.
Prise with beast mode the blanking plate for the new light.
Get cable rod with flexible end, tape end of new cable to it and push it under the carpet to the hole.
Attach new light and clip in place.
Replace all.trim is a reverse of the above.
Hope that helps, and makes sense!

My update to the thread, is broadly in agreement. The guide above was invaluable. I found the right hand side much easier the thread, as there is another panel half way down the lining which can pop out.

The left on the other hand was hampered by 20+ minutes fighting with the blanking plate. Leveraging the plate from the edge closest to the seats, appears to be easier than the boot opening side (at least for me).

The disappointing part, was that the hole left by the blanking plate was a few mm bigger than the lamp holder. This isn't the fault of the supplier, as we swapped lamps over to double check - same sloppy fit. This may have been a consequence of the fight over it removal ?

Ultimately, few loops of electrical tape, gave the holder a tighter fit. The end result looks perfect. But a real battle to get there ☹️
