It should be partially stripped and pegged up and the tension checked to make sure it's. It too tight or slack.

Car is sorted, turns out the timing was out but only ever so slightly which was causing the blue smoke from unburnt fuel. Took the car to Richard Martin automotive solutions in peterlee, Exhaust cam has been adjusted and the car is now a dream. Left it ticking over while I gave it a good clean and no smoke at all, well happy with the results.
