I ordered mine with this hoping that it would be a better option in the future, I don`t have a tom tom as yet, but it was added to the options list as for £25 it in theory would do away with the wires trailling over the dash.
I collect the car next week but have been told that I will need to purchase the correct "dash mount kit" to go with the pre-wire, I phoned to see how much today and its a staggering £135.37 +vat:censored:
It may also need workshop time to fit(still to be confirmed as they have not done one yet)
So plus the cost of a tom tom its not avery cheap option from what I can see, might just have the wires trailing after all and use the cradle it comes with:doh:

Anyone know any better on this???

i read loads of stuff about this on the altea forum so it might be worth having a search over there..

it does look smart when its all done properly but like u say it costs and arm and a leg!! suddenly a wire here or there doesnt look such an eyesore ;)
g :D

John. I take it you didn't opt for Bluetooth then??

I only ask as I had selected Bluetooth and the Factory Pre-Installation wiring only to find out later I could only have one or the other. Just wondered if what I had been told is indeed the case...

Yep, I opted just for the Tom Tom, You can do bluetooth through it anyway.
I would very rarely get any use of the factory bluetooth option so I didn`t bother for the £250 it costs.
The tom tom was a very last minute addition to the order, I spotted it on the "configure your car" and for £25 I got it added just before the order was placed by the dealer. I got it for a future purchase of a tom tom(well maybe). I expected it to be a din type socket or something , so it would plug straight in, but it seems there is a bit more to it than that:headhurt:

yer, a little different than that.

It look's to me also that the new breed of Tom Tom's (the x20 series) have a new mounting, so these wouldn't fit the dash mounts. Unless I am mislead though.

Fitting difficulty - Tomtom mount

I had the pre-wire on my Altea XL. My dealer fitted the kit whilst I waited, only a few minutes. (I got the free kit and Tomtom)

If the Leon has has a similar dashboard to the Altea then its only a case of removing the end plate, Screwing in the regulator box with two allen bolts, plugging in the lead which you have had pre-fitted, then the two other leads go up to the dash mount which just clips on.

I reckon 5 minutes should do the trick.

Thanks for that xlray, If only the actual mount were a bit cheaper I would get one. Might have to wait a bit as I have slightly blown the budget with the new car........And the xenons/alloys according to the wife:whistle:

done some checking into this seems like seat have not stopped the tom tom install on new cars
