AP coilovers

went and bought myself an early xmas present for the car. went to AMD and picked up some AP coilovers and what a difference they have made! the car was totally standard suspension wise and as soon as these were fitted along with new top mounts and bearings the car has been transformed from a crashy ride that rolls into the corners to a comfortable firm ride that sticks and glides round the corners.

I was expecting the suspension to be very harsh but imho the APs are so much more comfortable!
if people are worried about the quality of the ride don't be! best purchase as of yet.

How much did you pay for them and how much did you lower car? I've bought myself a cupra and want to start improving it.

There are good experiences with AP coilovers, a buddy of mine drives a Leon Cupra v6 and has a AP coilover set. I think they are better than my Koni Sport kit (with HR springs)!
Yeaa I'm really pleased with them. The Leon's handle so well with a half decent suspension setup!

I payed 450 for the coilovers kit and 85 for the top mounts and bearings
I didn't slam the car on its arse that's not what I'm into. Just dropped enough so the tyres sit in the arches nicely. doesn't rub on anything this way just have to slow down for speed humps abit more because of the splitter.

What top mounts are you using with them?
Just genuine standard ones mate

Ah I'm using powerflex ones with them and the ride is the complete opposite to what you describe, going to get some standard ones and give them a try.

How much of a gap do you have between the top mount cup things and the chassis?

Powerflex Ones are good for handling, but they induce vibrations in the cockpit. I swapped them back to default and happy days again (they are good for trackdays or so)
So you noticed a big difference going from Powerflex to standard? I'm getting so many strange noises, knocks, clunks and the ride is so harsh, all of my front suspension parts are pretty much brand new so I can only think it's these causing it.

I have the same thing, AP coilovers with Powerflex topmounts and I find the ride to be quite crashy and can feel every little bump and rut. Might go back to standard at some point, but as said can't fault the APs for the price and quality!

I paid £380 for mine from awesome in January as I ordered at the back end of their Christmas savings last year.

Yes big difference, it was so harsh, my front of my radio came loose whenever I hit a bump big enough...Im happy to give in some handling for comfort though. Also, the Powerflex topmounts are about 0.5cm higher than default.

Do you mean 0.5cm taller than brand new OEM ones or than the worn ones that were taken off?

If it's compared to new ones that's a big difference!

I have the AP's aswell I used to have them screwed down about 40mm from standard, they were awesome, soo comfy and responsive, I have recently fitted 4 new Vred Sessanta's and screwed the down maybe another 15 or 20mm, I had to fit 5mm spacers to so the springs would clear the tyres. The ride is now so bouncy, if I hit any bump in the road at 70+ I pretty much hit my head on the roof. The Mrs hates it, as awesome as she looks, shes gotta go back up

Or you could remove 'back up' from your last sentence and then use it to refer to your mrs.
